Would University of Alabama be considered as a target or safety school with a weighted GPA of 3.91 and a SAT score of 1380? If possible please recommend me some good safety schools which are decent in Automobile or Mechanical Engineering. :))
If you’re an Alabama resident and your family can afford the full sticker price, then for a random arts & science major, I’d say it’s a safety for those grades and scores.
If you’re out-of-state and can afford the full sticker price, then for engineering I think it probably is a target (especially if your scores are a little lopsided, with Math higher).
If you’re out-of-state and need lots of aid, then I’d say it’s a reach (maybe even out of realistic reach).
As for good safety schools, again it depends on your state residence (if any), what your family can afford, and other factors. Without knowing anything else about you, for safeties I’d suggest starting with directional state universities in your home state. I doubt your state flagship would be a safety for engineering.
Doesn’t it have Rolling Admissions? You can apply as early as possible and know if you are accepted before the deadline of all other schools - which is better than labeling it a safety/target as you’ll actually know.
Admission wise, should be a safety, since that easily qualifies for an automatic-for-stats scholarship if you applied before 12/15.
Whether or not it is a safety or reach financially depends on whether you applied by the 12/15 scholarship deadline and whether the net price (after scholarship if you did apply in time) is affordable.

The University of Alabama should be considered a safety school for an applicant with an SAT score of 1380 & a high GPA barring any serious disciplinary issues.
