any update?
Still under review. Recruiter said apps take anywhere from a few weeks to several months. She said some can even expect a decision in March!! Fingers crossed we don’t have to wait that long! Would just like to know…even if he’s denied, so we can focus on schools he has already been accepted to!
My son is an EPIC scholar and was reluctant to apply for other research programs without knowing how much work would be needed. The good news is that there are other programs at UA that offer meaningful research experience for kids with little to no past research training.
My son applied to and has been accepted into the Emerging Scholars Program. More low key but still a very structured opportunity for undergraduate research.
I’d just add - there’s lots of research opportunities posted for any student - especially in engineering. My son’s college gf did research four years with one prof - and wasn’t in a program.
@1dadinNC * Do you apply for Emerging Scholars before attendance or once a student?
@tsbna44 * Where are those research opportunities posted? We’ve seen a link with like 10 opportunities and that’s about all we’ve found.
Thanks to both of you.
I’m not sure if they come from the engineering emails (I saw some) or if you just talk to profs - but they’re definitely there.
FInd an area of interest and go talk to a prof.

My son got one because one of his professors emailed the class looking for someone. He responded and interviewed and is now part of the research group.
He applied as a current student like a few weeks ago. Very simple process. I believe you write a short essay, 300-500 characters and upload your CV.
To add, he likes this program because it provides foundational knowledge through class work on how to do proper research and professors will know that they have certain research approaches down when interviewing them.
Any acceptances this week?
4 weeks exactly. Still waiting
what major?
We are at the 4 week mark also
My daughter applied Oct 8th and got acceptance email today. It definitely took longer than when my son was admitted two years ago.
Congratulations to your daughter! I hope we hear back soon! Did your daughter apply with or without test scores? A few ppl have said when you apply without it takes longer.
General Business! Applied as a transfer so maybe it will take longer for me
Was the award that you got in the mail after you received the mailed acceptance envelope? We just received the official acceptance over the weekend and wondering how long before we hear on merit.
it took about a week
Yes, separate letter “from the office of the president” in a regular business envelope.
Has anyone been admitted this week? If so when did your child apply?
Has anyone received competitive scholarships ? If so anyone receive them test optional? If you are accepted into honors program will they be willing to give you more scholarships? Any idea when we all hear on competitive scholarships?
