University of Alabama Fall '24 Admissions

Other than our merit award, nothing yet. I think the deadline for “supplemental” scholarships I January so I am guessing/hoping it is shortly after that.

Thanks !!! I was assuming same since they are opening BAMA bound registration in February

I am still a bit confused too about if they “stack”. It sounds like if you get merit, plus a supplemental, they only allow you to take one and they give you whichever one is more.

You get auto merit. In my daughters case it was $24k. Then she hit another &4k competitive to be at &28k or the top rung for regular merit.

Did Alabama finally give you all a decision? My son’s gf last year never heard back after submitting her application she ended up accepting at an in-state school but the process for her seemed really strange.

We went to a Bama in Your Town event last night and they said that you only get the higher of the automatic or competitive scholarships, but that either of those can stack with the “supplemental” scholarships.

Yes but had to withdraw the app and reapply! Turns out her guidance dept sent an incomplete transcript with a weird gpa. I had a feeling something was wrong but they wouldn’t tell me anything. Once she reapplied she was accepted within days. Too bad it took another $40 and constant investigation, but she’s in finally. They also sent auto email asking for her to apply to honors program.

And yes looks like you can only take either merit or competitive scholarship —-and the supplementals we looked at didn’t have anything she could even qualify for!

Glad you were on it! Congrats! Hope she picks Bama.

My daughter applied in August. High school sent her transcript 1st week in September. Still waiting.

My daughter applied 10/13 we are still waiting too!

I’m just curious if your daughter has reached out? My son has been waiting just as long as you. Recruiter pretty much said that it can come as late as March?!

She did. She was told that with rolling admission and holistic review, it’s challenging for her to give students definitive timelines.

the competitive scholarship app is for kids who are not submitting test scores. from what i gather, bama does not combine a competitive scholarship and a regular admissions scholarship with test scores and gpa.
there are other scholarships they can apply to that are supplemental; we too found very few our kid qualified for.
My own kiddo (high stats, not NM) received an unpublished, un-applied for admissions scholarship a few years ago on top of his ACT/GPA-auto-merit scholarship. We were very surprised – there is NOTHING on the website about it. (called tutweiler) and it made all the difference!!!

so supplementals - like the engineering scholarships - come from specific departments and arent admissions based. They are not termed "competitive " scholarships, although i’m sure they are competitive to get. From the parents FB pages, most kids receive the most $$ from auto merit compared to competitive merit. So many disappointed every year.

Bama is very generous for sure. . . yet it’s been slightly decreasing over the years since weve looked at the school. In 2016, a 32 ACT was full tuition. Now it’s almost full tuition . . . very similar to Arizona’s changes. too bad - hope it doesnt keep progressing this way for these generous schools for those kids down the line.

Our kiddo likes Bama. I will add, living expenses do add up - but i suppose its that way everywhere! Our other kiddo (2023) elected not to go there; sometimes wishes she would have though. good luck all!!!

Has anyone else not heard from the University of Alabama yet? Everyone I know heard back within 3 weeks, if not sooner, but I applied mid October and still have not heard back. Not sure if maybe I did something wrong and need to reach out. It says everything in my portal is completed just unsure and a little bit worried about my application.

Did you apply with or without test scores? What major?
