What are The University of Alabama admission requirements? I was on their website and they said that people who receive a 3.0 H.S. GPA and a 990 SAT usually get in? Is this true? And, they stated that accept the highest GPA on the transcript to go towards the 3.0 GPA requirement. Is this true? What I am asking is can anyone give me anymore information?
Also, it would be excellent if anyone on here went or are planning to attend BAMA can tell me what was their GPA and their SATS?

i know ppl with worse than a 3.0 and a 990 that got in. In fact, I know someone with 990 on all 3 sections that got in.

Yeah, cool this year.

As far as what I’ve heard from friends going there, it’s pretty much true. You’d have to be dumb as a stump not to get accepted, but you hardly get any scholarship money from the schoo unless you have decent grades and test scores or an athletic scholarship.

GIVE ME ALL YOUR OPINIONS!

So what do you think my chances are of getting accepted to BAMA out-of-state, spring semester 2011.

Chances?

80% chance of acceptance I’d say

The ignorance in this thread is abundant. You got a UGA student, an auburn fan, and a kid from Texas pontificating about Alabama’s academic standards.

Olivia I’d say you’re borderline. I know you’d like to hear that you’re golden, but no one on here can give you the answer you’re looking for. Just apply as soon as possible and see what happens. Only UA admissions can give you THE answer.

Good Luck!!

Well, see the thing is I just straight up failed english my senior year. I am not sure if you all saw that, but I’m literally in summer school without my diploma yet. So I can’t really apply until I retake it and make an A. I don’t really want to without getting rid of that F. Also, I plan to pull up my stats a lot this fall and apply for the spring. Does anyone know if you pay tuition for a full-year or per semester? I would think you’d pay each semester. And I’d say I’m borderline too, but I’d still like to get as many opinions as possible ya know? Also, the school I attended the first three years was an A school if that means anything. It had the IB program and was considered a really good school with 4000 kids. The school I’m supposed to graduate is considered to be good, but I think it sucks. Another thing if you look at bama’s admission requirements, they say any extra math and foreign languages are taken into extra consideration. I took 5 math classes and 2 languages. The bare minimum is 3 maths, and 1 language.

Correction. Not the bare minimum. The requirements. 3 math 1 language

I have to laugh at some of the above. I know that some enjoy implying that Bama lets everyone in, but that’s not true.

Bama rejects over 40% of applicants, so it’s not that easy to get in anymore.

…Applied…Accepted…Acceptance rate

2007 …14,313… 9,140… 63.9
2008… 18,500…11,172… 60.4
2009… 19,518… 11,194… 57.4

I’m guessing that the numbers for 2010 will be about

2010…22,000…12,000…54.54

Auburn wishes it had these numbers.

From Collegeboard [College Search - Auburn University - Admission](<a href=“College Search - BigFuture | College Board”>College Search - BigFuture | College Board)

Auburn : Percent applicants admitted: 80%

Anyway…for schools that have rolling admissions…the rule of thumb is…

If you have lowish stats, your chances for admittance are greater if you apply very early.

When we toured Auburn, the admissions officer gave us a chart to give to our GC. It was a grid. It showed that if you applied very early (right after junior year ended) you could get accepted with low stats. Then as the months go by, higher stats were needed, to the point that by January of senior year, you needed much higher stats.

So, I imagine other rolling admissions schools have similar policies.

Bama does ask for teacher recs and/or essays for students who are borderline for admittance.

I should add…

When I talked to admissions about entrance req’ts, they didn’t have a set formula. A child with a better GPA, but a lower test score would be considered and vice versa. And, again, the earlier you apply to a rolling admissions school, the more flexible they might be.

The school is committed to admitting instate students who come from the more rural parts and whose education may not have been very strong. That is why Bama has chosen to increase enrollment while recruiting high stats kids, rather than keeping the enrollment stagnate and denying enrollment to the kids from rural Alabama.

The ease with which a student finds admission to a state university should not be confused with the rigor or quality of the curriculum he or she will encounter, or the educational experiences and resources available. Those who cannot discern this distinction frequently live lives fraught with surprising, albeit predictable, disappointments and opportunities lost.

Snobbery is the antidote to insight.

i haven’t read other posts so i may be repeating but…
basically out-of-state to get into alabama all you have to do is be able to tie your shoe.

^^^

I think you should read the other posts before posting nonsense.

There’s an old saying…
It’s better to remain silent and appear dumb, then to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

I myself used to claim that you could get into Alabama so long as you could spell your name correctly, but much has changed in the past 2-3 years.

^^^I know what you mean, feenotype. Every year I find it increasingly difficult to spell my name. :)

Ladies and gentlemen, representing the intelligensia, I give you suxess, an orator extraordinaire who’d rather repeat than read, a contortionist who can tie both shoe and tongue simultaneously, possessor of a screen name whose irony appears lost upon its owner.

I guess suxess failed his shoe tying test since he’ll be attending a junior college in California after applying to Bama, UGA, and auburn. I recommend you stick with velcro from here on out.

Numbers for UA vs. AU can be deceiving, at least to me. If you look at the acceptance rate between the two, you would think Bama is a much better school, since Auburn’s acceptance rate is over 20% more, at 80% while Bama is hovering in the high 50s. But is acceptance rate the best way to go? Acceptance % does not really measure the quality of kids that go to school there. For example, SDSU has a lower acceptance rate than UCSD, FIU is lower than UMiami, etc…

However if you look at the SAT/ACT scores and 25-75th range, Auburn clearly has the edge.

So, which is the better school? US News says Auburn, though I hate those rankings and how they change the methodology every year. And personally I like Bama better, so I’m not trying to pi$$ on them, but right now I don’t think there is a clear cut better school or the edge may even belong to Auburn…for now. Sorry, this will probably strike a chord with some of you, but statistics can be deceiving.

guys, chill, im not being serious.
though my friend did just get in there with a 3.0 and 1380/2400 on the sat.
i am aware that some applicants are accepted when it seems like they wouldnt be, same way with UGA, you never really know for certain if you are going to get accepted.
