University of California a-g visual art requirement

So, I'm a little confused when it says that you have to take a year-long course of a visual or performing art. I took a semester of 2-d art in my freshman year, and I'm wondering if I fulfill the one-year requirement if I take the second semester of 2-d art in my senior year.

They don’t require that you fulfill the requirement by taking specific art courses or taking the courses in a particular sequence, so it should be okay. Ask your guidance counselor, or registrar if you still have concerns.

ok thanks, and when I put the second semester of 2d art on my senior year schedule in the application, it says that I fulfilled the visual art requirement.

To fulfill the VPA requirement, you must take a course that is year-long and in the correct sequence (first semester first and second semester second). In your particular case, taking the first semester of 2-D art in freshman year and second semester of 2-D art in senior year will meet the restriction.

If you are in California, you can check the UC doorways website by high school to see if your classes qualify.
