University of Hartford for Illustration

My daughter has been looking at art schools. So far we have been to MICA and Ringling. Going to Pratt, SVA, SUNY at Purchase,RIT, Colubmus College of art and design and Universty of Hartford. I have heard all good things about most of the schools but not much on about Hartford. She wants to major in illustration. Does anyone have any feedback?

I hate seeing threads unanswered as if nobody cares and going down the pile.
are you in CT?
I was curious what’s up in U Hartford and looked up. I guessed from its name in-state public safety.
Being immigrant, I never get this right. I made LA dad angry assuming USC is a public school, like one of UCs or Cal state.
U Hartford is a smallish private university with easier side admission ( SAT 1000-sh, rolling) rather cheap for CT.
When you look at U Hartford “areas of study” link, one of the three photos supposedly to show off width of the school’s proud offering is a potter’s wheel.
This is a warning sign for all service Unis from my spying career.
Then go to undergraduate programs, it singled out “illustration” This is another warning sign.
Then I found out art school is called “Hartford Art School” within the university, you need to go to its link to read which courses are offered in each concentration, University’s site does not really meet art students’ need.
It could not be too bad a place to go if you are to get decent fin-aid ( private art school would never do that) you get BFA, can live in campus, take other academic classes required, and NACAD accredited

I only know Hartford from one shopping mall and hospital visit driving in and out. Typical boring Eastcoast capital city. The school seems bit off from downtown, it can be either good or bad thing in CT.
Go visit and see how kids are, art and non art. how on par with MICA Ringling students’ works and facilities, etc
to me, it seems just about good safety school if you want decent BFA in low key environment, not single minded $$$ art art art school.
