University of Maryland—Aid Policy?

I just toured the University of Maryland, and the info session presenter said that early decision/action students get priority on all of the merit based aid. Is this true? To me, it seems ridiculous that a college would not give any aid to regular decision students. Can anyone confirm that UMD does not give merit aid to regular applicants?

Getting priority =/= getting all.

Yes. When I toured them months ago they made sure they said that you had to have your application in by November 1st for merit aid. I am surprised they didn’t say anything in more detail since that date has passed and if you had not applied yet, you would not receive merit aid.

There are some schools that have scholarship deadlines. Purdue has an early one (Nov 1), and it looks like UM-CP does, too.

Other schools have Dec 1st or Dec 15th or other early deadlines for scholarship consideration.

These schools must have their reasons.

Do you need merit to afford college? If so, then apply to some of the others with later deadlines.

Thank you both of you.
