University of Maryland of Virginia Tech?

My situation is this: I was accepted to both schools, however, for VT I was accepted straight into their business program and for Maryland I applied to their Letters & Sciences. I am in-state at Virginia Tech and would be paying about 20k less per year if I were to go to VT. VT tuition~20k, UMD~40k for oos students. The thing that worries me is that I am not going to be enrolled in the business program at UMD right away and I will have to go through the hassle to transfer into it which is not guaranteed. I want to major in finance/accounting in an undergraduate business school. I know UMD has a better program than VT but is it worth the hassle and money to go there??? please help and give me advice! I only have a couple days left to decide.

I am not sure UMD is worth 80K more than Va Tech. The business program is stronger at UMD, but do you really want to spend that much more? If you have the money, than that’s another story.

we do have the money, but not sure if it’s worth spending it on this.

You may be able to transfer in the business program right now by calling. I would try that first.

do you think that would work? what would I say?

It might not be too late to ask if you can be considered for the business school at UMD. It is worth a try.

would it be best for me to call the business school, office of undergraduate admissions or the LEP program coordinator? also is calling better than emailing?
