Hello everyone,
Im applying to the University of Maryland - College Park. This is an absolutely amazign school, and I feel that it would help me bring my political aspirations to life.

The essay prompt is "Henry David Thoreau once said 'One is not born to do everything, but to do something.' What is your something?"

My essay reads:
As man is not perfect, it is impossible for him to attempt everything there is to do, to see, to know. He can, however, hope to instill a lasting impression on people by changing lives with his trade. This is a concept Thoreau himself knew very well, and the realism of his world was not concerned with superlatives, but rather a person of good standing and character.

Having grown up wanting to know why things were what they were, my parents instilled and nurtured the seeds of which would become my love for government and politics. In their great anecdotes of how great people can do great things, and the warm outlook they took on my wanting to bring out change in the world, my appetite grew into a craving, and into a downright addiction.

Politics became not a hobby, but a definition - an intrinsic meaning - of my life. Thoreau knew not only of the tumultuous political changes that would occur in our nation's history, but he also knew of the human character - the human capacity to do good things - and politics has inspired me to aspire to the heights with which I could achieve my visions and better the lives of others.

What do you think of my essay? Do you think that it will help me in the application process?
