University of Maryland Transfer Questions

LOL. Pretty funny. But it wouldn’t work anyway since I would see you are the poster.

P.S. I do love the post!

i was thinking about transferring to the university of maryland CP in the spring but i am having problems with my application essay as well and was wondering if you guys could look at my first draft and tell me what you think

Ever since I was in elementary school, when my mother attended the University of Maryland I have fallen in love with UMD and have made it my dream not only to attend but to graduate from the esteem institute.
Over the years I have never dreamt of letting go of this dream and till today my opinion has not for once shaken, but developed into more than a dream but a goal having realized all that the college has to offer.

The University of Maryland has a wonderful computer science program with one of the largest departments in the world having available top resources to prepare its students to become scientists in computing. UMD also opens the door to internships, scholarships and a wide variety of programs to its students as well as linking them to their afflictions with organizations such as NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, the National institute of standards and technology, the USDA, and the list goes on. The institute is also industrial partners with Microsoft, Microstrategy, Cisco systems and the likes all in which I hope to benefit from as an academic upgrade.

Joining the terps is not all about the academics for me, in transferring to the University of Maryland I look forward to all the social activities the school has to offer from the Greek system to helping put together the universities famous Maryland day, and all the other student organizations. Apart from this I look forward to being apart of a greatly diverse family and find a new home not to far from home.

I would suggest that you change it to be more of what you can bring to UMD. Why would you be a great Terp?

They already know all the stuff you have in your current essay… Good luck!

Hey guys, I am a sophomore at Mount St. Mary’s University looking to transfer to UMD for the Fall 2011 semester as a Junior. I just received a 3.06 gpa for this semester which raises my gpa to a 2.84 career. I am in the honors program here (which is why i received a C+ this year in philosophy) and I also play Division I Tennis. I guess it is also crucial to add that I am a Maryland resident. What do you think my chances are of getting into UMD as a transfer student?

Hi everyone,
I am currently a freshman at UMBC and am carrying a 3.1 GPA after the fall semester. If I earn a 3.0 or better this semester, would that give me a good chance of being admitted to College Park for the Fall 2012 semester? Thank you!

^^How many credits do you have?

Hi Kevin091,

I currently have 21 credits, but will have 34 by the end of this semester.

You should be in! I have 44…56 by the end of this semester, HOPEFULLY i get in

Hello, I just completed my spring semester of my freshman year at Anne Arundel Community College (in state) and am applying for Fall 2012. Finished freshman year with a 3.5 gpa with 32 credits and a fairly tough set of classes. Though the deadline is soon, (June 1st) do I have a pretty good chance? Thanks!

For some reason, even though I applied before the March 1st deadline for transfer admission, the admission office is saying that I won’t hear back from them until early July which seems impossible given that 1) it says on their site that people applying before the march 1st deadline will receive a decision in mid-April and 2) early July is a mere 7 weeks before classes start. I’ve never heard of such a late notification date. I am in such disbelief I’m wondering if I should email them again and ask if that was a typo. Has anybody had a similar experience?

My status still reads “Congratulations, your application has been submitted” and I submitted my application in early January! That is just unbelievable to me. I know they have a lot of applications to look through but if I’m told I can expect a decision in April that’s when I expect a decision. I have other schools waiting for me to make a commitment and I just can’t wait til July. Come on Maryland!

Are you sure they didn’t email you? They could of postponed your decision until they got your 2nd semester grades.

Hanna, I am in the same situation too. I applied to UMD few months ago but I have never heard back. I applied as an international transfer business student, and I sent them an email, and they said my decisions has been made and will send me a decision soon. However, it has been more than a week, and I still receive nothing urghh

Hi, I have the same problem here. I applied on February and they said that I would hear from them before the first of June. I called them 2 weeks ago but still no decision. I’m afraid there is no spot left

hey zombie, did you also apply to the business Smith school?
I think since business admission is really competitive, it takes much more time, and this is true for most of the unis

wait did u guys apply for priority or regular? I sent my app in march for regular decision. When would i hear back?

I am an international student, and I think there’s only one deadline

just found out that i fell into the regular admission because they said they didn’t receive my transcripts on time, but I had sent it before I applied. I will be notified in early july even though my decision has been made =_=

hi flyflydos, I have the same situation just like you. I just emailed them this morning, and yes, it is going to be released on July

hi zombie, Yea so don’t lose hope yet! but I think even though we applied before the deadline, our decision will still be held for a long time because the admission to smith is hard .

Btw, do you have any stats about previous years of smith transfer gpa
