DENIED. Miami was my top.
Thought I would at least be getting a deferral. I hate this process.

@thecreator96 do you mind me asking your class rank?

Just curious, because the common app required an essay, did anyone who got deferred/denied write a creative essay that you put a lot of time in? I’m just thinking maybe Miami puts more into that than people think

I mean my essay was the one I’ve sent to all schools through the common app where Ive gotten merit money, mine was about a learning experience and I worked with two teachers and a paid college counselor. I think I didn’t show enough interest previously and need to spend more time interacting with the school @palazzo96

Still no communications for me, hoping for the best! I poured my heart and soul into my essay. (Once again) wish all of you still waiting the best!

Cool, just wondering. When I was writing my essay, I worked with a couple teachers on it, and they stressed the fact that I had to avoid being cliche and showcase my voice as a person. Thought maybe that could be a factor, so they are accepting a person, not a bunch of numbers

my anxiety is through the roof right now :frowning: why cant they just do everything at once

@palazzo96 I spent a lot of time on my essay and had teachers help me revise it a bit. It was about my great passion for Spanish/Latin American Studies and why Miami would be the ideal place for me to study. I’m honestly not sure what Miami looks for most in people. I’d say the only explanation for so many strong applicants getting deferred/rejected would be that the applicant pool this year was extremely competitive.

PS - I was accepted to FIU and UCF months ago, if anyone was wondering. Also top 10% of my class. A friend of mine had a 4.33 W GPA, tons of extras, essentially flawless application and was deferred.

@brixx21 I go to a STEM magnet school with 68 kids that does not report rank. If I were to guess probably top 25%. Really was hoping for a singer invite too, since my friend from school with similar stats applied to HPME and had a singer interview while he was in Miami for the med interviews. Guess things don’t always go as planned.

@emmcar So it seems that noone who has been accepted has heard back. Thats good for us? Mabye? Hopefully?

for those of us that havent heard- when do you think we will???

really hoping so @cchel42. what are your stats

@thecreator96 aw wow, I’m pretty surprised. I think that you’ll get a nice scholarship when the numbers start rolling in though!

@hippos123

4.7 W GPA
3.6 UW GPA
2000 SAT
320 Hours of Comm Service
Lead Theater Roles
Leadership roles in Young Politicians
Youth Attorney
Essay was excellent, without sounding arrogant
AP scholar with honors
Some other misc things but nothing that important

@cchel42- very nice! realy hoping that this no news right now is good news :-SS

@hippos123
I could really use some good news. I was deffered from Northeastern and that crushed me. I’d really rather not go to FSU, I got money from them, but its just…eh

Don’t worry you guys! I’m sure we will hear something by tomorrow evening or AT WORST next week. I can just finally sleep easily now that I know that decisions have been mailed.
