University of Miami vs. NYU vs. USC

I was accepted to all three of these schools for next year and I am having a hard time deciding between them. I was wondering if anyone could give some benefits and drawbacks of any of the schools. Thanks!

What major are you interested in?

What area of the country do you want to end up in?

Majoring in Communications or Finance

I think it all depends on what you’re looking for in a school other than academics because these are all good schools.

What schools did you get in for your choices?

For NYU are you in at Stern for finance or Steinhardt for MCC? And since you’ve already been notified of your acceptance, I assume that means NYU has offered you one of their scholarships?

NYU … No campus… University is random buildings scattered around neighborhood. Sports are inconsequential. Everything in NYC is expensive. Enormous cultural options which everybody talks about, but how many times u think u will go to an art museum or opera? Name of university SOUNDS impressive all over the world. NYC can be too big and too much of everything to some people.

Miami: beautiful campus in nice suburban location.Sports are big. Hot weather much of year.

USC: beautiful campus. Neighborhood a few blocks from campus isn’t especially safe. Los Angeles vibe seems superficial and materialistic to many outsiders.

Steinhardt

Net cost for each? If you are not in Stern how can you be in business?

For finance there are definitely advantages to being in NYC in terms of potential internships, etc. As for communications, either USC or NYU.

If you want to do something Wall Street-related with finance, go to NYU.

For communications, Annenberg at USC is one of the best programs around.

In another thread you mentioned that your parents earn ~$50k/year. How will you be paying for these schools?

I’m not sure if a 1210 CR/M SAT and 3.2 UW GPA will qualify you for much aid at OOS schools. Did you apply to any of your state schools in MD?

UMiami is private so OOS is nonissue here. Business and communication are well connected locally/regionally. Where do you see yourself after graduation and how is the money working out? All three schools are very good options.

Lol that post was a joke @austinmshauri so far price looks like it will be least for Miami and most for USC, NYU in the middle

I’m considering law school, potentially entertainment law

Assuming you are referring to Southern California and not South Carolina… yes?

Yes
