Well, I've been accepted to the University of Miami, did a campus visit and fell in love! There is no other school I have been accepted to that I would choose over it. My question is, I'm 20 years old and I don't know what to do for housing. I'm coming from Michigan and don't know anybody, is there anyone who has transferred or is going to be attending that knows what they are going to be doing? I'd love to hear some ideas or suggestions?

As a transfer student, it is highly unlikely you will get on-campus housing. Here is a link to off-campus housing information at UM.

Good luck and enjoy Miami!

Hey man im from Miami, and ive been to UM, I loved the campus too but only because its all green, all you see for miles is green! and not to mention I love miami. I would suggest however since you are coming from another state to try and get housing on campus (even if you cant, talk to the housing director and stuff and make something up and make sure they put you on the top of list) because it would be so much cheaper than to live in the miami area. Not to mention if you do not live on campus you will have to deal with traffic, and public transportation in Miami sucks. Well congrats on being accepted UM is a very nice school.

Thanks for the link, signing up now.... how early should I start looking? Is now too late? Do more usually come up? Sorry, I'm new to the off-campus housing... any advice/help would be greatly appreciated!

Well all those are based on what the schools finds, and rooms people advertise, but once your down here you can look as local ads too, so there always going to be more and more, and i believe most are on a first come basis.....

Anyways I thing I can help you the most is with the nieghborhood, I know the area very well so just give me something your looking at and ill help you out. Good luck

im also a transfer student about to turn 20 in 3 months and got accepted to the university of miami.......im waiting to hear about a scholarship, they said anywhere from now and april 1st i will hear and if i do get one im most likely going there and going to be in the same predicament as you with campus housing

well i'm glad i'm not the only person lol. do you think you are going to look and find a place of your own and get a roomate, or are you going to try and find someone with a place already?

if i end up going to miami and dont get housing on school grounds i would be looking at places as close to campus and student friendly as possible and be looking for a roomate....ill keep u updated when i find out what im doing with my life lol, i still havent heard back from most of the other schools i applied
