@pwraskin99 Not everyone get it at the same time. Also, the package is just an estimation for now. Hopefully it will get better over the summer.

Not necessary. They usually send out the email shortly after the WA has been updated.
@billcsho, We received the financial aid package today. Is this an initial estimate? Is there any chance to get more aid?
@binky66 If you look closely on the award notice and on WA, it said it is an estimated award notice. One of the reason is that the CoA has not been set for 2018-2019 yet. The tuition rate will be determined in early summer. Also, there may be internal and external scholarships that would change the FA package accordingly. For my D1, we saw better FA package in May with increased amount in grant, but YMMV.
Will the amount of grant I receive almost always increase? Should I not pay attention to this estimated award then?
My daughter got her FA package today. Is any merit/scholarship from UM a separate document or if no merit/scholarship is listed you basically didn’t get anything? A grant from UM is just listed. We are kind of disappointed. Daughter has a 33 ACT and 4.5 GPA and we got no merit for STAMPS Art at UM. We can’t afford $35K a year still.
As this may be the only award notice before the May 1 commitment deadline, you will need to use this to make decision. It will be a big problem if the final package has less aid and high final cost. However, that may still happen if there is a major change after document verification. The deadline for submitting requested document for verification is June 1.

We are OOS, in Ohio. It is pretty close to the EFC. I guess I assumed the EFC wouldn’t reflect getting any merit aid and my daughter would have the opportunity for some scholarship money. We are really bummed. I kept reading how UM takes care of the people who get accepted and are generous so we were hopeful. Oh well, life goes on.
Update: I guess our emotions got the best of us. I learned that merit and scholarships could come separate from the college you applied to- so it is still a possibility she could get additional money from STAMPS Art.
