University of Michigan Ann Arbor Class of 2022 Early Action

@masterhound123, no. My son wasn’t invited to apply, while his classmate was. They both applied; he got in and she didn’t. The essays really count.

@gjb123 it takes a few days. Last year my son was accepted 12/21, received packet 12/30, in state.

@cassanova yes. They’re looking for upward trends/no slacking off.

4 years ago, my D1 received the CoE package within a week. Admission notice was also started on 12/20 but it was a Friday. My D2 was admitted a couple days ago within the first batch. We are expected to receive the package in the first wave too as we are in town.

OMG can i get in contact with you? I got accepted to LSA too, but Northwestern is my dream school. I was too afraid to do Early Decision so I won’t hear back from them until April.

how do you know if you got into the Residential College?

Im OOS from La too and got accepted. Do you mind if we get in contact?

Accepted into U-M College of Engineering.

33 ACT, 740 Math II, 740 Physics
8 AP classes, (3 of which were in Conphter Science, which is my major).
Unweighted GPA: 3.7
Weighted GPA: 4.5

Basically my grades and standardized tests scores were okay, but I think what got me in was my extracurriculars. I had several and they all related to my major/women in STEM.

Good luck to all those deferred! From what I read online, the number of EA applications U-M received is about double of its usual RD pool (though I’m not sure how credible this is), so applying early this year wasn’t very advantageous anyway. Don’t lose hope, you still have a chance of getting in.

Deferred at College of Engineering

ACT: C: 35, E: 36, M: 35, R: 33 S: 34

SAT II: Math II (800), Chemistry (800), Physics (800)

+Lots of research…

This humble soul appreciates Umich for selecting me to be in their cohorts. I wish those that were deferred the best of luck.

@acorn4 which letter?

How many people applied EA for class of 2022?

About 40,000 applied EA

is that more or less than last year @Ballsandstrikes

@guitar321 it’s more than last year

@guitar321 A U-M e-mail posted on last year’s thread says there were 32,500 EA applications last year, so EA applications went up 23% this year.

Does anyone know (confirmed facts - not speculation) how many apps MI gets (EA and RD), how many are normally accepted through EA and RD, and how many accept to attend (final size of freshman class)? I’ve seen some of these numbers, but not all of them.

@pepper5420 Last year, 32,500 EA, about 27,500 RD (total 59,861 apps). Of those, 15,874 admitted, and 7,023 enrolled. OOS yield rate was about 31%, in-state yield rate was around 69%. Others have chimed in about the number of acceptances through EA vs. RD, but I don’t have confirmed numbers on this.

I have heard that they defer/deny some people who are using it as their safety school.

@jessica2018 They defer 80%+ EA incliding candidates with high stat. No one can treat UMich as safety.
