University of Michigan Class of 2014-Deferral Thread

Hey guys, just wanted to start a thread so all of us who have been deferred, hopefully less than more, can talk about what to do next and things.

I would say that if you’ve been deferred, waiting for the decision would be the next step.

I applied EA and got “A decision will be arriving in the mail” on view decision. Is this a rejection or deferral? I heard EA doesn’t reject. Is this true?

Look I got deferred. How would this transcript look to send them in the middle of the year?
AP Government - C
AP Stats - A
English Honors - C
Office Aid - A
AP Calculus AB - C
AP Physics - C
Ap Computer Science - A

Would those get me denied for sure? Because I already have my transcript from last 3 years stacked with C’s, and even that didn’t seem to get a definite no.

Well, they don’t reject anyone who’s ED, so that’s why you weren’t outright rejected. And with those numbers… Probably not, mate. Sorry. :(

Well, i’m sorry about the C’s. Hopefully you can bring those grades up and at least get them all in the B range, now’s the time to start crackin the whip on yourself to do better! I can’t believe I haven’t gotten my deferral yet, not even a response. I can smell it all the way from ann arbor though. What do you guys think of this transcript for 7th semester if I did get deferred? I’m doing quite well in my classes since I have my 2 english courses next semester…

Accounting - A
Physics -A
Group Wellness/Team Sports -A
AP German 5 -A
AP Calc BC -B
Guitar -A

I know it looks like I have a really blowoff schedule but next semester it’s not gonna be. So if i get like a 3.85 or higher this semester do you think they would let me in, maybe if I improved my ACT score too from a 26?

Just want to know, when you get deferred, is there any change on Wolverine Access? My friend told me that one of the people he knows that got deferred had something that said 7th semester grade show up on the view credentials part of the account? Can anyone confirm this? Or what does anything at all happen to your Wolverine Access account?

I got deferred for Ross. sigh

I didn’t get any notification on wolverine access.

Is anyone SURE that they don’t reject Early Response? According to their website, they do reject people. I’m an international, so I’m waiting for my mail but it’s making me really nervous about it…
[Office of Undergraduate Admissions: Early Response](http://www.admissions.umich.edu/prospective/applying/earlyresponse.php)

Got deferred from early response, no notification on wolverine access, they just kept me in suspense and then I got a letter. pussies. I got straight A’s this semester though, so maybe that’ll help.

Is it true that they don’t reject anyone from ER and a deferral is just a nice way of rejecting you? College advisors won’t give me a straight answer, it’s all this crap about how it’s NOT A REJECTION!!!

keep in mind there are two deferral letters…one (apparently the “bad” one) requires 7th semester grades and shows up on WA access while the other (the “good” one) does not require 7th semester grades and does not show up on WA access.

@anthonyxy21: DS was deferred and got the “send seventh semester grades” version of the letter. The only change in his wolverine access is a new line item under credentials that says: “7th Semester Grades Notified.”

As far as the “send seventh semester grades” version being the version sent to those who will eventually be rejected, that makes no sense to me. Why ask for more data if the decision has already been made?

my letter said i was in a group that remains under consideration, but it still asked for my seventh semester grades. Is this the good letter?

^DS’s also said he was still under consideration. I don’t see any reason not to take them at their word. I don’t know what the basis is for the apparently commonly held belief that one or the other letter is “bad” or “good.”

^ there’s a whole section in one thread (i think the official umich er decisions thread) about the “good” and “bad” deferral…

don’t believe it if you don’t want to, but we’ll see come april what happens…

hahaha hell yeah. nice thread lol
