University of Michigan Class of 2023 - Deferred Applicants

@Nhatrang, when my daughter was deferred her counselor told us the head of the department was going to call the AO about a group of deferred students. Instead, my husband asked him to call the AO personally on behalf of my daughter and he did so with no problem. I don’t believe he felt there was anything unusual with the request. She had also sent in a LOCI and followed up with a phone call when she did not get a response. She definitely advocated for herself, but it helped to have her counselor back her. Maybe this is more common in private schools which is unfortunate.

@gobuemom. No at public also. Some counslers feel comfortable doing it others don’t.

This is fairly late, but were there any CoE applicants who did not receive a HAIL interview in November who also did not receive another HAIL offer about a week ago?

@bjr829 I asked the admission councilor for our area and she said not everyone gets one … now not sure how bad that is

@airway1 Did you get one?

Question for any who can answer. My next set of grades (much better than the fall grades that I’d really like to send in) don’t get published until March 4th, which means Mich won’t get it around the end of the first week/possibly the second week of March. I’m worried that a big wave might come 3/1, and my decision might be out before they can see my new grades (if they even will look at them). Should I find my rep and email them about this, or should I just wait until a wave comes?

@bjr829 my son did not …

@jelbel123 I’ll give you my opinion. You really don’t have any new information to provde UMich, so I would wait until the “wave” comes and you get your next set of graves. All you could tell them now is that your grades will be coming and your grades are better. Hopefully, you’re accepted in the next wave, which SHOULD be Midnight EST next Friday.

FYI, a 1st time poster on the 2023 RD thread asked why his/her decision tab disappeared. Again, this could mean a decision may come in hours, tomorrow night at Midnight EST or, IMO, probably next Friday on 3/1.

Remember, it’s a 1st time poster and even if he/she is being truthful, disappearing decision tabs can disappear from hours to a week + ahead of a “wave.”. Just thought I’d share with you students and parents.

Could decisions possibly come out tomorrow?

Possible? Sure. Probable? No. I’d stick with Friday 3/1 Midnight EST.

Possibly.

I remember reading at least one post in a prior year, where the student said that their decision tab had disappeared a month prior to the “wave.” I am not saying that here though.

I wonder why UM doesn’t let applicants know when the waves will come? Kinda annoying

actually…extremely annoying

Publishing the exact dates, like Ross, would be great, but the dates that Ross has committed to, 2/1, 3/1, 3/29 and 4/19 are definitely dates that have been the typical RD pattern over the years, with at least one exception. The 1st RD release for Class of 2021 was the 2nd Friday of February, not the first Friday of February.

As an example, here in CA, for the most part, UC’s and CSU’s don’t publish exact RD dates, except maybe for Berkeley, IIRC. And when you’re waitlisted, no one really knows when the “waves” will come.

I can’t bear the wait anymore but I’m so scared to hear back!!!

First timer on here, but I got my decision today and I made it in!
