what should i think of this email back from my deferral letter:
Thank you for your continued interest in the University of Michigan; please be assured that it will be noted in my evaluation of your application, along with the recent accomplishments you shared and I will use this information to continue to advocate for your admission. The University received a record breaking 30,000+ early action applications this year, so admission was very competitive and we were not able to admit all of the academically excellent students who applied. At the University of Michigan we use a holistic and comprehensive review process that looks beyond a student’s GPA and test score. We are also assessing their curriculum, extra-curricular involvement, leadership & awards, personal characteristics, and essays. Additionally, we gauge the level of interest the applicant demonstrates in the University, as well as their fit within our campus community, so I appreciate that you have sent this e-mail. Please feel free to contact me if you have any additional questions or concerns!
I went to Common App and under Umich Recommendation Tab, it says Mid Year Report Submitted. Does that mean my transcript got sent and all umich needs to do is download my transcript?
@vandydreamz that sounds like a really great letter in response, actually. Of course for all others reading, all that essentially matters is that they acknowledge your continued interest.
Ok, I’ve calmed down enough to post something for future reference. I applied on Oct. 31, and was deferred on Dec. 18. I received what people called the “good” letter, saying that I didn’t need to send them much more than mid-year grades. I sent a letter of continued interest as soon as the admissions office reopened on Jan. 4. My regional counselor replied the next Monday with an extremely short message only asking for mid-year grades. I had at 3.69 GPA for this semester, which was full IB. However, I don’t think they got my mid-year grades because my school only sent them out this Monday, and it hasn’t appeared on my Wolverine Access yet. But I’m just so happy I was accepted!!! Good luck to everyone else!!!
Do you think it’s safe to say that if we haven’t had an admissions decision up by now (11:23pm), we didn’t get one this time? Or will they be distributing them throughout the day?
