I Sent my letter of interest on January 21st and received this response on January 22nd
Thank you for your e-mail and for your continued interest in the
University of Michigan; please be assured that it will be used in my
evaluation of your application. I’m happy to see that you have continued
your academic success in your senior year and that the University of
Michigan is your top choice. Please let me know if you have any questions
or concerns!
Sent another e-mail with my transcript attached on January 29th and received this response on January 29th
Thank you for sending your transcript! I’m happy to see that you have continued to find success and that the University of Michigan is your top choice school. Unfortunately, the only guaranteed date I can give you for a decision would be in mid April.
I applied to the school of Kinesiology so I’m not sure if this is why people are getting different responses from their admissions counselor.
I think the different responses may just be because of the different admissions counselors. Either that or its random. I got the one that said they will “continue to advocate” for my admission, but I’m not reading too much into it. It’s most likely just another checked box on our application.
Based on how they have done in previous years, it is very likely they will start rolling admissions and declaring starting this Friday. The first lot to come have been the deferred applicants from the EA pool, fingers crossed.
@senior12321 I read through last year’s thread, and there were quite a few people who got accepted the first Friday of February who had not yet sent their mid year report.
@lalabeach22 It seems like most accepted people have near 4.0 UW and 2250+ 34+ scores. I think they’ll go to the 3.8+ 2100+ 32+ based on those accepted last year in the first batch. Obviously with some variation due to other things
My counselour still didn’t send mid-year reports even though finals were over 2 weeks ago…
Will that affect my decision in any way? I’m worried that my decision will get delayed because I won’t even be considered for this Friday’s first wave of decisions…
Thank you for your continued interest in the University of Michigan; please be assured that it will be noted in my evaluation of your application, along with the recent accomplishments you shared. The university received a record breaking 30,000 early action applications this year, so admission was very competitive. Be assured that we use a holistic and comprehensive review process and we looked at all aspects of your application before a decision was made & we considered your grades, curriculum, test scores, essays, and extra-curricular involvement as part of our evaluation.
Before we can make a final decision on your application we need to further evaluate the strength of the regular decision applicants, as well as the yield rate of our admitted students to determine space availability in the freshman class. We will add your 1st semester senior year grades when they arrive so they can be considered as we continue to assess your application; other than that there is nothing further we need from you at this time. As stated in your deferral letter, we will have a final admissions decision for you by early April.
I hope this information helps; please feel free to contact me if you have any additional questions or concerns.
I emailed a letter of continued interest on January 11 and haven’t received a response. Should I just assume they received it and made a note of it on my application?
@alexxxcee looks like your letter is different in a way where it says - by april and not in April like a lot of others on this forum. Also your letter does not have that last para " M is a competitive school and so explore other options". This is the best letter I have seen that any one has received yet. I hope you hear back tomorrow with an admit.!
@EZMoney123 many people get accepted without their first semester transcripts arriving before February 1st. They understand and it won’t hurt you - mine won’t go out until February 8th due to late finals!
