@danloeb where are you getting your information?
Theyre probably will be more waves each Friday considering they haven’t really had any single large releases
Sorry @bigtenhopeful34 but I don’t want to get anyone in trouble. You’ll just have to take my word for it. Check my old posts though and you’ll see I won’t steer you wrong.
@Candlewoodgal The decisions get uploaded into their system on one day, usually Thursdays, and then it shows up in Wolverine Access when the system refreshes that night, usually just after midnight eastern time.
It’s different during early action. That’s when they turn off part of the prospective student portal until sometime late that Friday afternoon, when most students will be out of school.
Looking back on the thread I see that not that many people got in today or last friday… does that mean there will be a decent chance of being admitted in the next wave? Isn’t it usually mostly rejections and waitlists?
Also, my midyear grades were sent BY MAIL on February 17th, I know they had a snow storm and heard they were off this past week so what are the odds Michigan has seen my first semester grades?
@aban91 mid year grades are not required. A couple of my friends from school got off the deferred list and were accepted before semester grades even came out.
If we have not received a decision at this point, does this mean that we’re toward the bottom of the application pool? So direct admission to other schools is unlikely…?
I was accepted for LSA!!! I’ve been waiting for this for 7 months now and couldn’t be happier. Some of my stats

@coffee18 congrats! did you find out through email or wolverine access? again congrats! and the mission trip must have been a phenomenal experience!
I was accepted to LSA today! I got an email around 12:30 west coast time but I’m assuming that my portal was updated last night at midnight. honestly was surprised cuz my midyear grades were not that good!
My son’s friend got denied late afternoon today from EA. My son still has no word from deferred EA.
I wonder what percentage of the EA deferrals heard today. This is absolutely BRUTAL!!!
D got accepted today to LSA early this morning! OOS
Thank you!! And yes, it was life changing! I found out first through WA around 11:30 and received an email much later around 5:00. Good luck and congrats to all!! @terr24lr
so no more waves then other than the big one in the last week of march???
Hey, everyone! At first I didn’t want to comment my acceptance today (to LSA) because I know how devastating it is to refresh this page and read of everyone’s happiness when you still haven’t heard back. So if this describes you, I want you to take a deep breath and remind yourself of how wonderful you are. I’m going to share my stats in the hopes of giving ease and hope to one of you.
- I was deferred EA back in December with the "bad" deferral email. So if you got that one, it means nothing! Don't worry.
- Out of state (Illinois) from a community that is lower middle class (maybe upper lower class?) My highschool was probably unheard of to UMich!
- ACT: 29
- GPA (out of 5.0): 4.4
- Class rank: 19/775
- Grades: Freshman year I had 4 A's 1 B both semesters and both Sophomore and Junior year I had 2 A's and 3 B's both semesters. My midyear grades this year were back up to 4 A's and 1 B.
- Classes: I've taken 10 AP classes
- My essays: I wrote them myself and didn't have anybody revise them, but I would like to think I'm a good writer. I wrote each essay carefully and added my personality into it.
- Teacher recs: 3 teachers and 1 counselor. I don't know how they went because I never saw them!
- ECs: I actually had a ton. I used up 10/10 of them on the Common App and included 2 more in my letter of continued interest. I was president of 2 clubs, supervisor for 1. I volunteered at 2 places with a few hours a week. The only sport I had was TaeKwonDo, and that's outside of school.
- Awards: There were quite a bit as well!
- Letter of continued interest: I submitted one email to my regional rep talking about the extracurriculars i've done since submitting my application in October. But then I kept kicking myself that night because it just made me sound robotic, so I sent another email the next day basically professing my love for the university.
I really hope this helps, if you have any specific questions about my stats or application, please message me! I hope you all get in. If you haven’t heard back yet, just breath. I found myself dwelling on this for months on end, and it did no good. It didn’t make them want me back, ya know? It’s okay to be disappointed for the day, but tomorrow is a new day. Just let things unfold for themselves. If it’s meant to be, it will be.
Fingers (and toes) crossed for each of you! <3
@chainofdaisies Congrats! I’m super happy for you, especially because you sound like such a sweetheart. I have similar stats, but I’m in IB rather than AP. Hahaha you’ve given me some hope!
My D has not heard yet. I called yesterday and they said her application was under review. Since a decision has not been made yet how should this be interpreted since this was the last of the large notifications before the final one. My daughters stats according to her CC she is competitive. She attends a nationally ranked high school and it is very competitive. Any thoughts ?
They might send out more decisions next Friday, but at this point, it’s all open to speculation. From what I have seen, decisions have not been made yet for a lot of competitive deferred applications. I too, am waiting on a decision so let’s keep our fingers crossed that more decisions will be made on a Friday between now and early April.
