University of Michigan Deferral Thread EA 2020

@tooscared. I’m pretty sure that post #716 is meant to be a joke. : )

do you guys think the decisions will come out at midnight? or after 3pm like when the early action results came out?

@Candlewoodgal ya think?? :wink:

I expect nothing at midnight.

Nothing so far at 12AM Michigan time.

nothing :confused:

Well that was a buzzkill…nothing here.

My son is still waiting for a decision even after applying in October. The thing that bothers me is that he is not willing to make a decision until he knows where things stand at UM. I understand that they still may be making decisions for applications that are on the bubble, but they have to know that lots of these decisions are rejections at this point. Why can’t they issue those decisions now that it is end of March? If they received such an overwhelming number of applications, they have to be able to put some applications near the bottom and let those kids move on to deciding on another school. I know I am preaching to the choir here . . .

i’m honestly sick of michigan putting decisions off for applicants waiting since november

I’m thinking if a person is waitlisted it will not be on Wolverine Access. Only accept and denied goes on WA.

Honestly I feel heartbroken at this point. I was deffered in December and Michigan is my first choice and favorite school in the world. I am slowly loosing hope but also refuse to make a decision before I know if I get in to Michigan or not. Which means that final decision for me could be another 3 weeks away. A horrible wait.

@nbsquared I totally agree with you. Or they could at least send out some kind of status email. But silence is just rude.

It’s only a matter of time. If you get in, you’ll be happy regardless of the timing. If rejected…The main issue now is that some have had to put down deposits on housing at other schools to reserve space while they are waiting to hear from Mich. And I would surmise the likelihood is that many, if not most, of the deferrals who haven’t heard yet are likely going to be rejected, although none of us really knows anything. Just therapeutic sometimes to vent. Helps the time go by.

@nbsquared I couldn’t agree with you more.

To be clear, UM is a great school and I can appreciate that it takes a tremendous amount of time to review those applications. If a kid is on the bubble and the school is waiting to see what its yield is for early admissions, that makes sense; but at the end of the day, they are admitting a low percentage of kids overall and there have to be tens of thousands of applications that they know are not going to make the cut even if every offer admission were rejected from this point forward. Let those kids know so they can move on. I have seen very few posts about rejections on this site which indicates to me that they are just letting kids wait anxiously every Friday for no good reason.

ive just lost all hope. i feel like the longer the wait the better chance that i didn’t get in. but i want them to tell me that so i can move on and commit to somewhere

I agree with @nbsquared and was going to post something similar. My son was accepted in December EA and last night we attended the Next Step reception in our area and they stated this year broke the applicant record (54,000) of last year (51,000). There should be many many students who they know will be denied so give them their decision so they can move on. Admitting 6000-6500 overall is what we were told, that is a ton of students in limbo.

Good luck to those waiting! I hope things work out for you.

Yeah, it is annoying. There is little doubt that there are thousands who they know are getting rejected. My guess is at this point they may be waiting to finish all the RDs so they can send decisions to everyone at one time. In the grand scheme of things it doesn’t really matter whether it’s today or next week. It’s just that “waiting fatigue” has set in and it’s hard to believe they are putting people through this for another week (or more).

Aren’t the decisions coming out today?

it seems that the past few rounds of decisions were posted on WA at midnight so we wouldve known by now. doesnt look like decisions will b released today. heres hoping for next week!
