University of Michigan Deferred Applicants Class of 2022

The uni said send grades to everyone deferred, so have the grades sent if you want to stay under consideration. Your case for “why Michigan” is already part of your application essays.

The response that I received was simply “Thank you for the continued interest in the University of Michigan”

Are people emailing their LOCIs or are they sending it by mail?

How long the LOCI letter should be?

For people sending in Loci… Email is faster and can be tracked. They really don’t want a letter. They just really want to know if you are still interested and what your midterm grades are. If they ask for grades and you send them in then that shows you are still interested. Think of what they have to go through to make a decision. This is a weeding out process for them. Yes, people get excepted without sending in the letter. Just give them what they ask for. Don’t over analyze this and have a few more schools to get excited about also.

Guys do you think I’m screwed?! I talked to my college counselor this morning and he said that my michigan regional representative emailed him saying that my letter of continued interest should be emailed to a general email (ecredentials@umich.edu), but I already emailed my letter to the regional representative over the weekend!!! do you think this hurts me in any way at all???

No

I talked in person with someone who works in admissions for Ross yesterday and she said it definitely helps to send a LOCI and it should be sent to your regional representative.

^(Not only for Ross)

How does one calculate their University of Michigan GPA?

I’m having an internal conflict on whether or not to send a LOCI. The information stated above supports both sides.

@flhs23 It is on their FAQ. They count all classes from all years in 4.0 unweight scale without subgrades.

I emailed my admissions counselor, and she told me not to submit an LOCI, and that my Semester 1 grades were enough.

If a deferred student gains admission do they still qualify for OOS merit aid and/or COE scholarships.

@Blizzard1 If the admission happened before Feb 1, merit scholarship would still be considered. However, the chance is low or they would not defer that candidate at the first place.

But what is each grade considered unweighted? @billcsho

@flhs23 Unweight means 4 for all A, 3 for all B, 2 for all C, etc without considering it is being an AP or more challenging course.

What should I do if I am failing calc (but it averages out to a C)? (Out of my whole high school career this would be the only time I fail a class)

Okay thank you!

Bjlu20… Forget about what colleges would think. What if you were at Michigan right now and having trouble in a class? You would get help from your teacher /professor and maybe seek help from a tutor and or online sources… https://www.khanacademy.org/math/calculus-home

You have till May /June to get better and improve your grade and more importantly your understanding.
