University of Michigan Deferred Applicants Class of 2022

deferred feel so terrible right now…

I was deferred from COE.
In state
1500 SAT
4.2 w/4.0 uw
Strong ecs
leadership positions
Legacy (Both Parents went)

I heard a rumor that they had so many applications that they couldn’t read them all so they just deferred them.

Same I waited months and I was honestly shocked and upset that I was deferred being that U of M was my first choice.

How do you send a LOCI?? what do you say

I was deferred from LSA. One of my friends told me that rejections and deferrals usually come out first. Does that mean that the people who have not received a decision yet are most likely to get accepted? Just curious.

I don’t think so because I know a lot of people who heard back and got accepted.

@randdog29 is there any sustinance to that rumor? About them not getting to all of them

@gradtke No, but the person who told me, told me exactly when decisions would come out so they might know what’s up.

@randdog29 if you could ask and let us know that’s be interesting to know

Hi… late to the party… deferred OOS. Really heartbreaking for me. 34 ACT 1500 SAT… 4.0 gpa, 4.8 weighted. Was also rejected to my dream school. Does being deferred mean anything? Seems like I should move on.

My email didn’t use the word “deferred” in it, but says they will review my application again after I send my mid-feb grades. Anyone know if I still have to send a LOCI?

Just got a deferral email stating that my grades are required unlike the other one saying it was optional. If they are worse than initial grades sent does it mean a rejection?

@dannyphantom1 nice to see you again

So it looks like people that are getting those emails/message means they were way off their radar of kids they wanted to take. The other deferral message seems to be the “good” one.

I got deferred OOS, 35 ACT (1 take), 3rd in my class of 230. I applied as BME to the School of Engineering. I expected to get in, as this was one of the lower selective schools I applied to. Now I’m quite worried.

I had a 7 on the ACT writing so maybe that was a deal breaker. It’s going to be a terribly slow wait until early April. That’s when I hear back from all my reach schools too, and my hopes are slowing dropping.

I never got an email but I did check my student portal and it said my application would be “deferred for further review.” It also said that “The most successful candidates send us only what we require” (Not really sure what this means, I send in two supplemental SAT II subject tests). It mentions that mid-February grades may help my chances, but it doesn’t say that they require it (although I’ll send them anyways). Does this seem to be a good or bad thing for my chances?

Also, they fact that they say “our high application volume” makes me think there is some truth to the rumor that they weren’t able to read all the applications and deferred the ones they couldn’t get too.

I got the same email though and I am not WAY off their radar so idk.
I have a 4.14 GPA and 1370 SAT (1380 superscored)

Which deferral message is the “good one”?

The one that doesn’t mention grades

i got the one that is supposedly good although my grades aren’t that good… 3.67 UW and 4.27 W
