I wish! I have another account but forgot the password so I just made this one. :))
I called and they gave me the straight up answer that admissions will come out in april for deferred AND RD
@GoingBlue2018 “In April” or “by April”?
@GoingBlue2018 sounds like an answer they gave out of frustration or something, they must’ve gotten a ton of calls. That shouldn’t be the case considering acceptances have been rolling for deferred applicants in the past.
The bamboozles continue
He said they are due to be released in April, I even asked about the “waves” and he just reiterated that they’ll be out in April… I’m so frustrated
Mom of an deferred applicant here. We went through this 2 years ago, and sadly it’s deja vu. Same topics, waves or April, view buttons disappearing, good vs bad deferral letters ugh! Yes, there will be waves, whenever they get to them, and there will be random decisions here or there on odd days, and yes the bulk come out sometime the first week of April, lots of rejections then, but also some admissions too. I am an alumni and this is very frustrating, more so than for any other school. Hang in there, and don’t read anything into any of this stuff. Good luck to all! Also, it’s a great university but so are a TON of others! You will all land where you are meant to be…
The Michigan process is an annoying necessity in order to prevent an insanely over-enrolled freshman class. Michigan is a backup school of choice for folks applying to the Ivy League, NW, etc. and these waves of offers allows them to better guess how many to offer in the last wave.
That makes no sense as they would not know if a student will attend or not until May 1. Their intention is to let the applicants know once they have decisions instead of to wait till early April like other schools with a fixed release date. If you don’t like the waves of release, just don’t check WA until early April. The only way to prevent over enrollment is to admit less and then make sure of the waitlist at the end. It has nothing to do with rolling admission release.
I spoke to someone this morning and all they said was they would come out in April. Which is a lie because decisions were released 2 weeks ago in the first wave! With a rolling process, you really never know.
@mich2022Ihope They are just giving people the default answer. I don’t blame them. I understand the rolling admission process and I think that is not the problem. The issue with the way it is being done is that people don’t know when they will come out and are spending a lot of time guessing and refreshing WA. I think Ross does it better. There is a clear tweet from them on Friday (2/2) after the first wave for Ross was sent out. Then the tweet clearly said that they try to do it on Fridays at 5:00 PM and that there won’t be any released on 2/9. So, I expect a Ross wave this evening for candidates already admitted to LSA. It’s all about setting and managing to expectations and that can go a long way in reducing the anxiety at a time when every student is so anxious about where they are going to end up next year. Personally, I don’t care if they even announce every three weeks. But, I (Again a personal opinion) think it will be better if they set a schedule and then release at that time. If you don’t get in on that wave, you know that you have to wait till the next wave. That will stop all the calls to their admissions office and all the guess about the “View Decision” link and scholarship links and how many of them are there and on and on and on.
my decision tab just went away and it never has before!!! is this a good sign?? I’m so hopeful!!!
@wolverineblue2022 Which school did you apply to at U of M?
@csekar15 It is a lot easier for Ross to plan for the release with less than 1/10 of candidates.
@billcsho Why do you think it is any different just because U of M has 10 times the applications than Ross? The concept is similar, isn’t it? For the sake of argument, let’s say they set a schedule of 5 PM every other Friday. Whatever they can release a certain Friday, they do and the rest rolls over to the Friday two weeks later? Not sure where the “planning” comes here. That way, they can get all this unnecessary chatter controlled and reduce all those calls they are getting every day. Towards the second half of March, they can start to release more often or less and manage the enrollment number. But, this early in the stage, they should be able to set some dates and release whatever they can get done for each of these “mini” deadlines. Anyway, I am sure there is a lot more to it than my naive mind can think of - but just speculating.
To the concept is simple but the reality is not. They don’t have the final number of application until a couple weeks ago and they are overwhelmed. While Ross just wait for the admitted student and review them. Not only the numbers are less than 1/10 of total applicants, the applications go to Ross after each batch of admission instead of having all active applications at the same time.
If I doesn’t come out at 3 I’ll be angry
I have a good feeling about 3
@billybobby54 why do people think it more will come out at 3???
