University of Michigan EA class of 2020 thread

I’m wondering the same sort of thing^^ my favorite teacher of all time wrote the best recommendation for me since I was one of his best students and he’s an alum… Do you think they’ll even notice or nah?

@n511511 @coffee18 at the least, it won’t hurt.

Well, I got rejected from Northwestern ED, so I’m aiming my sights to UMich, Berkeley and UCLA now :’)

Anyone else rejected from Northwestern?

@McKilla99 I was rejected from Stanford. Now I’m left with MIT(unlikely), UMich, Berkeley, GeorgiaTech, and some safeties. It sucks but at least you have more schools to look foreword to.

@infiniteCircle Yeah I suppose so. It’s awesome to know that I’m not the only one

@McKilla99 Same boat as you man…except I have my sights set on umich and NYU now. I remember you from the Northwestern thread too posting a good amount. Checked back on the NU thread for 1 second after I got rejected and saw the “omg i can’t believe I got accepted” comments and clicked out immediately…then I cried a bit. Won’t be checking back there again, but I think I’m fine now though.

@barcodellll Same thing here man. Well, I’m sure we’ll get into awesome colleges man, all we have to do is wait.

@McKilla99 @barcodeIlIl that NU rejection hurt my ego a little bit…not gonna lie

I got deferred from brown, but i still really like my other colleges so I’m not too down and out. I really like michigan and would be psyched to get in early action

@pizzaandpeonies Hurt it? It literally shattered mine. I don’t think I’ll be able to face my friends, who got into the ivies like a few days ago

@McKilla99 my method of coping is downplaying it. LOL but in all honesty, I know I’ll look back to right now and realize this was all silly because I’m going to be happy wherever I end up. But right now it feels like shit. But…it’ll get better…I guess.

Practically my entire school has applied to Michigan so I’m honestly not feeling too confident about this either.

@pizzaandpeonies and @McKilla99 I’m in the same boat as you guys, my school is so competitive and basically the entire top 20% applied to mich, and even though its my dream I’m on the lower end and at this point am anticipating a deferral, but you never know I guess!

@pizzaandpeonies @mdnj16 UMich claims that they’re holistic, so in all likelihood they don’t have quotas on highschools. You should be fine :’) I guess we have to aim for the top 10 in grad school eh?

@pizzaandpeonies @McKilla99 Same. Except it is the opposite for me. All my good friends have been getting rejected or deferred from top tier schools with the exception of 1 JHU and 1 Cornell. lol when I told them I got rejected from NU they simply told me “Sorry man, you’ve got good company though”. A lot of them have 2350+ sat scores and near perfect GPAs with as hard if not harder courses than me though so I can’t really complain. It sucks that I won’t be getting into a top 15 school now, but I still look forward Umich and NYU. One of my best friends is nearly guaranteed for NYU because of his double legacy so at least we can still chill next year and I know a lot more people who go to Umich and NYU than Northwestern too.

@McKilla99 if it makes you feel any better, my brother went to a community college for undergrad and ended up at Northwestern for grad school. So we’ll get em next time.

It is insane the Michigan has to sift through 50k+ applications. With so many applications I feel like mine is just another piece of paper on a massive pile of very qualified students. At least they accept a fairly large amount.

Hi guys I was just wondering if anyone could chance me cause Umich is my first choice and I am very worried. I am applying to Kinesiology

ACT: 32 (took it twice: Highest english 33, highest math 30, highest reading 36, highest science 34)
GPA: around 90% ( I started off weakly and had about an 87-88 average and bumped that up to about a 93% average last year and have about a 95% this year)
Classes: I am taking four honors and 1 AP, because of my slow start that I mentioned in my application I was not able to get into more over my other years. I am really worried about this
Extracurriculars: four years of football, four years of varsity bassfishing, president of the sports broadcasting club, I also do lots of charity work with autistic children and adults in my community
Awards: Nhs, illinois state scholar
Essays: i am a good writer and I think I got a good letter of rec.

Is kinesiology harder/easier to get into than other schools
thanks

@pizzaandpeonies That’s really impressive, and no, we’ll not just get 'em - they’ll be begging to take us. @barcodeIlIl Everything happens for a reason I suppose

@pizzaandpeonies @McKilla99 @mdnj16 Same, my school is a semi-small public school but we have a decent amount of our upper ranking students apply. It gets very tense with everyone talking about it. It’s also very weird if you get in early action at my school because so few people get in EA that other students try to find a reason to discredit it (being legacy for example). Then of course there’s only have 10-15 that actually get in, and it’s all very stressful all in all. I just want my deferral so I can get on with life!
