@actssmart OMG!!! Nice to see you again. Haha, also deferred from Brown.
@infiniteCircle same rejected by Stanford, now am hoping for UMich, Berkeley, UT and some other UCs
Haha I got super lucky and got accepted by WashU, my dream school. Now I can just wait for my Michigan decision without stress!
@Zorbinger If you were accepted to Wash U, per the ED agreement, you need to notify Michigan ASAP and withdraw your application.
@brendancollins17, good luck with your admission. From the stats that I’ve looked at I do think Kinesiology is slightly easier to get into than other schools at U Mich - Engineering for example. But, that’s still not of great consolation. The website states that middle 50th percentile for ACT is 28-31 and GPA 3.7-3.9 This school is specifically looking for demonstrated interest. Your ACT scores look good, GPA a little low and your course difficulty may be a little light. Have you visited the school? If you are deferred for EA (which is not uncommon for OOS during this first round) you would benefit from making a trip up to Ann Arbor and personally meeting with members of the School of Kinesiology to show interest. If you do not get into UMich consider University of Illinois - right in your home state. Less expensive for you and also one of the highest ranked Kinesiology programs in the country. Good luck!
Was there any way to add an award to my application if I received it after sending my application?
You can email it. It is probably too late for EA, but if you get deferred it may be a help?
I have a question - why doesn’t UMich adopt the Early Decision plan if they’re so worried about yield and stuff???
I assume that tax payers in Mich will be extremely unhappy if Mich adopt ED.
@desie1 I just asked my counselor and he told me that it was too late, and not worth notifying Michigan 3 days before the release and that it would just delay them. Don’t worry, Michigan hasn’t accepted a student from my school in Missouri in 6 years lol. Also I sent them my 31 before my October retake, looking at last year’s stats I’m going to get deferred. My counselor says that once I get deferred I need pull it out.
I’ve never seen a public state school offer an Early Decision plan.
Miami of Ohio has Early Decision.
Very few but there are public schools with ED plan. Miami of Ohio and SUNY Geneseo are schools to use ED plan.
@McKilla99 , they really want to, but none of their public competitors have done so. Sooner or later one of the top publics will adopt SCEA or ED and then they will all do it. @NYDad513 , I don’t see why taxpayers would be upset, most in-state kids (and their parents) want to go to Michigan - especially at in-state prices.
@zorbiner I wasn’t worried - I don’t have anyone applying to Michigan (I’m a parent). It’s just that you are supposed to notify schools once you’re accepted somewhere else ED. But no problem … just giving some advice because you can get in trouble eventually if you don’t notify them on a timely basis.
@TooOld4School Maybe I am wrong. My guess is that even in-state students who are qualified to Michigan also want to try other options during college application. EA helps them a lot in search of other options but if Mich goes ED plan, it is huge change for them, especially in state.
Anyway, there is RD anyway… So I go too far?
@desie1 thanks for the advice!
Is UMich’s EA acceptance date this Friday?
@sreya124 Majority of decisions will be released on Friday. The remainder will be released over the following days in waves up until, and no later than, December 24.
Ok, thanks.
