University of Michigan EA class of 2020 thread

Hi guys my name is Kellen I live in Michigan, my sister is a sophomore at U of M and I just wanted to wish everyone good luck with decisions on Friday! Hope to see you guys on campus soon, Go Blue!

Good luck!

Just three days left guys. It’s been such a long time since I started this thread in September.

It is speculation, but it’s probably true, just don’t get you hopes up. And I believe decisions come out 12a.m. On Friday

@whizkid98 I’m glad you started it, because now I have other people to be anxious with! Hahaha :-SS

@ggirl2020 Me too! I’m hoping the admissions gods will smile upon me for this thread.

@rjp456 wait, really? I heard it was around 2:30-3:00.

Hi sorry can someone chance me?
Applying to Kinesiology OOS
Had a rough start freshmen year (surgery week before finals so i did horrible and it brought my grades and cumulative. GPA down a lot)
3.65 UW but w/o freshmen grades 3.85 UW
good upward trend
6 APs and 2 honors
I’m taking 7 classes my senior year
30 ACT
Very high interest in kinesiology
i wrote my personal statement on having two reconstructive knee surgeries and how it inspired me to become a physical therapist
UMich is first choice so i made that clear in my Why us essay
ECs include:
4 years Varsity soccer (team captain senior year)
2 years varsity cross country with many awards including first team all league (had to stop because of my knees)
8 years club soccer
summer internship at a sports medicine clinic
various community service
piano and guitar and various honors concerts for 8 years
vice president of a medical club at my school
other various clubs

Do i even have a chance? Thank you!

@anxious917 based on your stats it sounds like you have a good chance! But what the hell would I know, I’m just hoping to get in too! xD

Last year I remember people hearing back around 3:00 EST through an e-mail because we were still in school, and it was deferrals and acceptances so I would assume everything goes out at once.

hey guys I couldnt seem to find the statistics for the UMich Early Action 2019 round. Do you guys know what their acceptance rate is like by any chance?

@chillipadi “target goal of 33% overall” for EA

I know last year, atleast for the first wave of regular decisison(unsure of early action) they came out at night

Good luck everyone! Don’t stress too much haha.

@anxious917 the School of Kinesiology seems to be a different animal compared to the other colleges within the University of Michigan. Their stats for admitted students are slightly lower than the rest of the university and significantly lower (I think) than the School of Engineering - but still very competitive compared with other universities. Given that, the school is much more interested in accepting students who are interested in Kinesiology rather than trying to back door the university and then changing majors. That said, demonstrated interest becomes extremely important. Your stats are a little low for UMich, but are within the ball park for Kinesiology. Your activities clearly demonstrate an interest in Kinesiology. Hopefully, your essays clearly communicate that interest, as well as an understanding of the school and what it is about. Did you visit the university? That is another clear measure of interest. Finally, from what I can tell EA at UMich is a bit of a crap shoot, with students with very high scores (particularly OOS) being deferred. Good luck on Friday!

@anxious917 I actually think you have an awesome shot!! I was extremely interested reading about you and I didn’t even get to read the whole application! I think that you’ve really shown a very personal connection to Kinesiology and even if you’re stats are “lower” (which I don’t think they are too far off what Michigan likes to see) it’s a holistic process and they promise us that it’s more than just the ACT and GPA, it’s the whole package. Which I think you truly are. Best of luck but I really feel strongly you’ll be accepted

Hang in there everyone! My son heard last year on Friday afternoon the 19th. He is just finishing his first semester and loves it! Go Blue!

3.87 UW, but a 2070 SAT(kinda low) applying for engineering, international, I’ve already been accepted into Purdue, thoughts?

2012 and 2011, students heard the EA decision on Thursday. But the last 2 years, decisions were on Friday.

2.5 days! I’m so nervous.
