May be they are deferring top students because they know these top students are not going to go there anyway and that UMich is a safety for them … this way they keep their yield rates low?
You get deferred if you’re overqualified or slightly under qualified apparently
I still haven’t received an email. Is it possible for an acceptance?
@16jpatel because rejecting people that are obviously using Michigan as a back up lowers their acceptance rate, leads to higher college rankings, thus receiving more applications and it’s the circle of life
Deferred here. Pretty upset, 33 ACT 3.96 GPA, ton of music extracurriculars, academic teams, basketball 3 years (had to quit senior year bc of back issues), 6 AP’s classes so far, 4 AP this year

Actually, Michigan has a new program where they tell low income kids in the state that if they apply to Michigan and get in, they automatically have a full ride. So yes it is true.

@424hara no. My last name starts with one of the last three alphabets so it shouldn’t be bc of last names.
