anyone here who was accepted who got their email after 3:00 EST?
Unfortunately UMich has the reputation of deferring applicants like you that they assume will be getting accepted at better schools. In my opinion that stinks!
Deferred
Deferred OOS CA
ACT: 31
GPA: 3.8UW/4.2W
Kinesiology: Movement Science
Really wishing that I would get in. Is there anyway I can appeal my decision?
@kaanddd Many people reviewed my essays and liked them, and I think I showed a lot amount of interest. I’ve been accepted to some other schools so I’d assume that bad rec letters would’ve been a problem there too, right?
I wonder if the decisions are coming out based on when you submitted your application. All those who haven’t received anything, how close to the deadline did you submit? Did you have to wait for the October ACT to arrive?
34 on the ACT, 800 on math 2, 4.33 GPA, 8 AP’s, and much more and deferred
@pumped4xmas I got mine at 4:57EST
I don’t think it would make much sense to repeal a deferral, because they haven’t even said no to you, so you may still get in
Does everyone who has been deferred and/or not heard yet still have “early action-qualified” on the app info section? Just curious if that changes for deferrals. S’s still says that–wonder if that means there could be a decision?
@jcampion Ugh same…except I got a 35 on the ACT and took 7 APs. I just don’t understand why we were deferred.
I haven’t gotten a decision, submitted it the night before it was due
Deferred. 31 ACT, UW GPA 3.96, 7 APs, my sister went to Michigan.
Honestly so disappointed, especially because so many of my friends got in and I was just accepted to Fordham yesterday
I was offered full tuition for all four years as long as I was accepted about three months ago.
seems like they are just doing this in batches. not like “all acceptances out” then “all deffered out” i think people with nothing just are in a group that hasnt been released yet. unlucky us
@tigerbookmark I submitted on October 31st at night, and I got accepted already so they don’t do them in order of submission
@s16s18s21s25 I still haven’t heard my decision and mine still says “early action-qualified”
submitted on Oct 5th, no decision and no email if there was a deferral
@emilyskates The school definitely cares about its yield (the percentage of students that say yes when offered admittance) because it boosts their ranking. A ton of highly qualified students get deferred (which is very disheartening for those students, I’m sure) in order to make sure they are not using Michigan only as a backup. If you show the admissions office you are planning to say yes if offered admittance then you should eventually get off the deferred list. Most kids I know that were in this position last year kept in contact with the admissions office and were accepted by late January.
CAN SOMEONE WHO GOT DEFERRED PLEASE POST A DEFERRAL TEXT THEY RECEIVED?
