University of Michigan EA class of 2020 thread

@akhilles true, it’s weird that deferral applicants seem so strong

accepted! In state, got an email at 5:40 PM.

I got deferred from LSA with a 32 and 3.7 but applied to the Stamps/LSA joint degree program and haven’t heard back from Stamps- does anyone know if I can get different results from each college?

D was accepted, OOS, email at 5:24pm

Does anyone know the deferral rate for Michigan? Additionally, does anyone know the acceptance rate for deferred in-state students?

worked my butt off all these 4 years…

Still nothing so far…really losing my hope now

To everyone that received decisions, you received emails letting you know your decision was up, correct?

are there any stats out there for the acceptance rates for deffered OOS students?

OOS
3.97 UW U-M GPA, 34 ACT, 800 Math II, 800 Japanese, 720 Physics, varsity baseball, marching band, 13 APs
deferred

Deferred, 7:15 PM

Got email at 7 saying deferred…bummed for sure
SAT 2260
GPA 3.89, 4.42
Top 5%
Tons of leadership and ECs
2 part time jobs
3 year varsity athlete
Hoping to get in! My dad was from Michigan and always talked about how he wished he could have gone but his family couldn’t afford it but I have been to football games and have dreamt of going here for a long time…would this be good to work into an email to admissions?

S just got the email…thinking this is not the happy nice deferral letter sent to legacies, like the one above–thoughts?

"Thank you for your application to the University of Michigan College of Engineering for Fall 2016. We are pleased that you have applied and are impressed with your achievements. However, our high application volume, coupled with the very strong credentials of our applicants in recent years, has contributed to an increasingly competitive admissions process. As a result, we are writing to inform you that your application is currently being deferred for further review.

While this is not the answer that you were hoping to hear, your application remains under consideration. All final admissions decisions of admit, deny, or waitlist will be made no later than early April, 2016.

Strong fall semester or trimester grades may improve your status in the deferred pool of applicants. Therefore, please ask your high school counselor to forward them when they become available. Beyond that, we are confident that the information you have given us is more than sufficient for a final decision. The most successful candidates send us only what we require. Please refer to the website https://umich.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2080 for FAQ’s about the admission process and what to do next.

We hope your interest in Michigan continues. You have our best wishes for an enjoyable and successful end of your senior year.

Sincerely,"

What did your letter say? @angelacgeorge

@25senior25 I got the exact same letter from the same person

@beaner89 Got my decision @ 5:30 PM through email!

@Henryboj33 Hoping its a good letter dude, if those even mean anything

How would I email them?

@Tomwbush My child is currently a sophomore. Originally deferred EA and was accepted in early March. Also, about 5 other students in his class deferred EA were eventually accepted starting the end of Jan and mid Feb. Acceptances for deferred students were very erratic after this initial round, but they do come through. According to my child, an enormous number of friends at school had siblings accepted EA. The tally of legacy students accepted at this juncture is simply unreal, whether its through parents or sibling - and I’m talking OOS only. Make sure your GC contacts Michigan to let them know you’re still interested and will definitely attend if accepted. Also find out who your area admissions contact is and send a follow-up email once school resumes in January (not now). Good luck to you!

Got accepted 2260 3.96 unweighted from cali (:
