Thank you for your application to the University of Michigan College of Engineering for Fall 2016. We are pleased that you have applied and are impressed with your achievements. However, our high application volume, coupled with the very strong credentials of our applicants in recent years, has contributed to an increasingly competitive admissions process. As a result, we are writing to inform you that your application is currently being deferred for further review.
While we recognize this is not the answer that you were hoping to hear, perhaps particularly so because of your family ties with the University, your application remains under consideration. All final admissions decisions of admit, deny, or waitlist will be made no later than early April, 2016.
Strong fall semester or trimester grades may improve your status in the deferred pool of applicants. Therefore, please ask your high school counselor to forward them when they become available. Beyond that, we are confident that the information you have given us is more than sufficient for a final decision. The most successful candidates send us only what we require. Please refer to the website https://umich.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2080 for FAQ’s about the admission process and what to do next.
We hope your interest in Michigan continues. You have our best wishes for an enjoyable and successful end of your senior year.
I love how they add “You have our best wishes for an enjoyable and successful end of your senior year.” -like sorry mich but senior year is not enjoyable when I piled on the APs to get in and now have to continue to get good enough grades to get in ! lol
I was deferred and got the email about an hour ago, maybe more, but no decision or aforementioned new link is posted on the website- is anyone else in this situation?

I’m sorry to everyone who was deferred (including myself) but I just wanted to say that you aren’t alone, we have priority in RD, THIS DOES NOT MEAN NO (remember that!), this does not diminish any of the hard work you have done all throughout high school or most importantly you as a person and you have so many people still rooting for you! If you are meant to be at Michigan you will end up at Michigan. Life has a funny way sometimes of not giving you what you want but then giving you something so much better! I know it sucks and trust me, I cried when I realized I had been deferred, but I am confident in myself and my future and so should all of you!

What would you say my chances are (from 0 to 100 percent) of being admitted Regular Decision?
Deferred with a 2390 SAT and a 4.0 GPA, 800 on my SAT 2s. For those of you who were also deferred, do you guys know when it would be a good time to send in a letter of continued interest?
Freshman at Umich here who just finished up first semester with a 4.0. One year ago, I was deferred. Don’t lose hope!! If you belong at Michigan, you will end up here. I promise you that. Go Blue!
