University of Michigan EA Kinesiology - Who has heard/who hasn't?

My daughter applied EA for U Mich School of Kinesiology from OOS and was deferred in December. She is still waiting and hasn’t heard any decision. Was wondering who else out there has applied (either IS/OOS) and has or has not heard back yet. D has GPA of 3.95 (UW) and ACT 33 with very strong demonstrated interest in athletic participation as well as extracurricular/community service related to physical therapy. Also has notified U Mich regional rep of her continued interest. Seems like School of Kinesiology hasn’t released many results so far, but maybe I’m wrong on that. D has been accepted to several other schools for Kinesiology (Wisconsin, Texas, Illinois), but Michigan is first choice.

DS applied to Kinesiology as well, and was also deferred. He may not be the strongest academic applicant (~3.7 average, 2000 on SAT), but has demonstrated both interest and participation in ECs that align with program. He is also a triple legacy. I know a few kids who were accepted, some EA, some 2/5, into the school, but not him. I don’t think the next round of decisions is released until next Friday, 2/26, but you never know what will change year to year. What I do know is that Kinesiology has become much more popular in the last few years, this year had record number of applications, and they want to keep enrolled class the same size (I think last hear it was less than 200). I also suspect that many of the spots are already taken, but we are staying hopeful. It’s the only school he has ever wanted to attend.

@somersboysmom Good luck to your son! Hopefully, some good news for both our kids next Friday.

I applied to the School of Kinesiology Early Action and was deferred initially as well. I was accepted on 2/5. I didn’t send a letter of continued interest but I did send in my first semester grades. Good luck to everyone!

I had posted before that my daughter was deferred and then accepted on 2/5 to kinesiology, but your post made me wonder if any of the four majors are more competitive than others. I see you mentioned physical therapy. My daughter applied for Sport Management. I hope you hear good news soon!

Thanks @hld3471 - yes, my daughter applied for Movement Science. Is your daughter IS or OOS? Not sure if one is more/less difficult than another as I would assume you could move between majors in the same school relatively easily. Still waiting, but she is hoping for positive news this Friday. I understand that is when the next round of releases is likely.

She is OOS in Texas.
