University of Michigan Early Action Class of 2019 Discussion

28 ACT and 3.99 GPA, that’s pretty avg. at my school for who gets accepted but I am still very worried due to there being such high competition in my grade.

I heard that around 80-100 kids were accepted to UMich from my school last year (senior class of 500ish)

Our school, as I said, I am the only one who is applying for. Hope this would help littlebit

@class0f15 lol are you IS? sounds like exactly the same stats as my school.

@indeferrence‌ yess southeast michigan

@class0f15 very interesting. same. lol

@indeferrence‌ what school

@class0f15 troy high :o

If I am deferred (applied EA late October), how long after will it take for me to get my decision?

@HumNation Not sure to be honest. I heard back in January (accepted) after being deferred. Rumor was that the admissions office ran out of time and just deferred all the applications they did not finish reviewing. I talked to a few of my friends here at UofM and everyone that applied late on the last day got their final decision in January. I applied two hours before the deadline.

You should expect a decision anytime between Late January to Early April. Most likely in Late Feb to Mid March though. Best of luck to you!

I was in a very similar situation^

so I’ve been following up with this thread for weeks now and just made an account a day ago to finally join the conversation. it’s been giving my crazy anxiety, but after talking to several people, I shall share the knowledge that was bestowed to me. I know you don’t want to hear it (I sure did not), but whatever happen will happen. none of this is in our control. you can continue to post “chance me’s” and psych yourself out, but it does you no good. let be and be positive. it’s all about positive vibes. good karma. hope all of you have a great day, and good luck to results possibly this friday! go blue!

so are some EA applicants going to get flat-out rejected rather than deferred? idgi.

@nat97xo‌ Most likely not. Unless they were extremely unqualified GPA under 3.0 and ACT under 20, nearly everyone will be deferred or accepted.

oh man, congrats. still, that itself is such an accomplishment!

pretty sure you’ll have to wait for regular decision…if you didn’t get the email saying you qualified for early action, they’ll just postpone your app

trust me, I’m in the same boat as you with a 2050 SAT. everyone here gives me anxiety like no other.

So if you go to a “feeder school” how much of an advantage do you have?

@joej7237‌ a great one. UMich admissions counselors are more familiar with your school. I know that my counselors are very close with our UMich regional counselor and we have a great relationship with them. It’s a big advantage to be known.

^ Not only that. Most of the feeder schools are within the SE Michigan area that the yield rate is really high. That is one of the think adcom likes.
