University of Michigan Fall 2017 Transfer

… denied admission today. Applied to join as sophomore.

Did they give any explanations why you were denied?

@Desi1966 They just sent me an email that saids they prefer junior standing and considered my high school gpa and sat instead. I thought I had a decent chance with a 35ACT and 3.8 college GPA with 3.9midterm.

Which college did you apply to?

@DinsoresRfake LSA econ

Hey all and congrats to anyone who has been accepted. I aas recently admitted as a junior transfer and was curious as to what other juniors are considering for housing?? Off-campus? Frat/sorority? Dorm? I believe most upperclassman live off campus.

@peace4allpeeps Most students are out of the dorms after their freshman year. I would suggest using Michigan’s off campus housing website (http://offcampushousing.umich.edu), Craigslist, or the various Facebook groups to find housing. Let me know if you have any questions – I’ve lived in Ann Arbor for the last 5 years.

@peace4allpeeps Which school did you apply to? When were you notified? When was your paperwork submitted?

Hey guys, heads up I just got a decision, so you might wanna check your emails and portals!

congratulations !!! Could you share your info with us maybe ? when did you submit your application and which college ? Great thanks !!!

@bettycrocker03 do you mind if I ask when you applied?

@Med509 I applied on 2/1

@bettycrocker03 was your wolverine checklist marked as completed?
Mine never showed up.

For any OOS(Out of state) or international applicant, did they ask for the syllabus of any course you took for evaluation BEFORE sending you a decision. If yes, how long before sending the decision? Am freaking out

@EngineEstein I am an OOS applicant, and I submitted everything by 2/1. I did not have to send a syllabus of the courses I am taking before they sent me the decision. I recieved the decision yesterday. I haven’t heard about having to send the syllabus of my courses and they haven’t told asked me for any more application material either. I think the syllabus of courses only matter after you’re accepted in order to better evaluate which credits are equivalent and transferrable.

I recieved my admission letter in an e-mail today as well. I applied as a junior transfer as a computer science major to LSA. I’m a transfer from UMass studying computer science and mathematics.

I had a 3.82 cumulative GPA, a letter of rec from a CS professor who I worked with over the summer and a rec from a writing seminar prof. Spent the least amount of time on the UMich essays compared to my other essays (a few hours). Wrote about a home automation gadget I made over the summer. Extracurriculars: the business I worked on with my prof over the summer and occasionally part-time during the school year, entrepreurship club, hackers of umass, and the brazillian jiu-jitsu club.

Oh, also US citizen, asian, lived first 10 years of my life in the US, and the rest overseas. Also refused to put my ethnicity down.

Feel free to ask me any questions if you guys are curious about anything.

Wish the rest of you the best of luck!

p.s. don’t feel bad from looking at other people’s stats, they don’t mean much.

Oh, and took on average 5 courses per semester, this semesters coursework included 4 stem courses, and a grad level class. Took a 300 level last semester as well.
I’ve heard that course work matters as much as the gpa or even more.

Didn’t mention my hs stuff cause I did pretty poorly (imo) around a 3 gpa and 1960 sat, so I waited to be a soph to transfer.

If somebody was denied as a Transfer student and if he or she wants to appeal the decision, do anybody knows any formal procedure to appeal the decision?

I am also applying from UMass OMG
