University of Michigan Fall 2017 Transfer

@kcsh1998 also I almost forgot. If your AP scores are good (as in 4s and 5s) make sure you send them to Michigan from the college board.! This probably sounds like common knowledge but I totally forgot to do that the first time I applied.

I didn’t apply in High school. My HS GPA would be about a 3.3…So not great Haha. It seems like only 2 of my courses transfer over :frowning:

@kcsh1998 My high school GPA is in the 2.x range so yours seems phenomenal compared to mine. but damn that sucks about your courses. If you’re really determined to go to Michigan and aren’t admitted for the fall I’d plan your courses around what transfer to Michigan

@kcsh1998 I found out I was accepted last Tuesday and they emailed me my credit transfer report on Friday! Best of luck :slight_smile:

@kcsh1998 when you say that only two of your classes transfer over, are you saying that only two transfer over as exact course equivalents to a U of M course or are they DEPT credit? DEPT credit is still transferable credit. You can often use DEPT credit to meet distribution requirements depending on which classes you have taken. A lot of the community colleges that have articulation agreements with Michigan meet distribution requirements with DEPT credit for courses that they transfer from their cc. It is obviously different for every school–I myself am coming from an OOS 4 year university so it is definitely complicated for me too–but don’t just assume that DEPT credit means that you only get elective credit. However, for classes that you need for your major (pre reqs and other major-related courses that are required), I am pretty sure that those need to be course equivalents. Now, if your courses actually say “NOT TRANSFERABLE”, then you’re out of luck. :frowning:

None of my courses say “not transferable” as far as I know…I haven’t received my Umich ID to log in yet though…Should I call its been 2 days or so…

Question: for those of you who sent your transcripts by mail, how long did it take for U-M to receive them?

@HopefullyIGetIn

The first time I applied I sent my transcript in by mail and it showed up in wolverine access about 12 days after. Although I can’t say for sure if those results are typical because ann arbor is like 15 minutes away from my school.

Just submitted mine on last Saturday, and i called them to ask if they have received my transcripts that i sent a month ago. They said they haven’t received it :confused: now I’m starting worried about it.
Anyways, goodluck for us!

@Ajeng22 I sent mine in the beginning of the month, they still don’t have them. I’m just worried that there’s a problem and we wont know until after the deadline.

Yea I’m kinda worried if they got it late. Hopefully not. I called Bryan seitz and he said they probably get it already, but they haven’t updated the information. Anyways, when did you submit your application? @HopefullyIGetIn

@HopefullyIGetIn It took over 2 weeks for my high school transcripts to get processed. You’re probably fine, but I would probably make some phone calls in the morning if I were you.

@jmengineer I am applying for COE for Fall of 2017 as well. Did they ask you to send in course information for credit evaluation? I thought they do this process after you have been admitted.

@Ajeng22 @HopefullyIGetIn I wouldn’t be too worried about that. Do you guys have your wolverine access stuff yet? if so check on wolverine access and go to the “view credentials” link and see what it lists under “other required application materials” if they have all your stuff there will be NOTHING there. if they still need something it’ll be listed there and once they receive it it’ll have a date attached. I called the other day to ask if my app was completed and I sent in my transcript before I had submitted my common app and at first they told me they still needed my transcript but then after looking some more she said no they do have it.

@historyrepeat are you sure there will be nothing there if theyve received everything? I have submitted my HS transcript, second semester courses, and first sem grades, and all have been received and are showing up as received, with nothing else listed as needed. Are you saying that in my case, they still need more stuff?

I haven’t received any emails about the wolverine access because i just submitted my application on Saturday @historyrepeat . Yea looks like everyone in here has similar issues about transcripts. Now i can relax a little bit lol thanks so much

Just submitted my app today! Are transfer decisions released the same way as freshman (all decisions on the same date) or is it rolling?

@424hara transfer admissions are rolling. Usually their timeframe is pretty accurate of about 4-6 weeks after your application has been completed. Sometimes you’ll hear back very soon sometimes it’ll take quite a bit of time though. This is for LSA. I know COE and the other colleges usually take much longer to get back to people.

@historyrepeat - “I know COE and the other colleges usually take much longer to get back to people.”

Well that’s disappointing :(. Do you have any idea what the norm is for CoE? How long are we talking here?

@historyrepeat @BryanB @Ajeng22
Yeah I have called several times. To be fair they have said they are behind schedule with it. So yea, hopefully theirs no problems. My transcripts had no problem with UNC, so I’m guessing they just haven’t opened them yet.
