University of Michigan Fall 2017 Transfer

@broche6 No email yet!

@dullbd so if your app was marked complete on December 16th, does that mean you also had your college transcripts sent in by that date too? My app was sent in back in October but I had to wait until last week to send my final college transcripts because my professors were taking so long to post final grades. Everything was sent back in October except college transcripts basically.

I got to DePaul which runs on the quarter system so my final grades were posted by Thanksgiving. My application was marked complete with my transcript and everything else December 16th! They don’t view your application unless all materials are there! Best of luck @cassidylynnn

@dullbd also, did your application say undeclared on wolverine access? I’m not sure if it changes or not after you’re admitted, but for some reason mine says undeclared even though I put Econ in the common app

@dullbd Congrats! I had a feeling you would hear good news back soon.

As a general message for everyone. From past semester I can say that your admission decision will show up first on wolverine access…if you get accepted. If you get denied you will only get an email. Both semesters that I applied previously I never had the “view decision” link pop up on wolverine access.

@cassidylynnn It will always say undeclared on wolverine access whether you’re a freshmen applicant or a transfer.

Also you can see what classes have already been evaluated for transfer using michigan’s transfer guide. Depending on where you’re going to college they may not have many courses evaluated or they may have every course evaluated. Personally I go to an instate community college very close to ann arbor so all of my courses are evaluated and since I knew I wanted to go to Michigan I just picked my classes from the transfer list.

@historyrepeat oh yeah I wish I had that option. I go to an OOS 4-year private university so it’s hard to see what transfers and what doesn’t. I looked at the transfer equivalency thing on their website, and none of my classes say non-transferable so atleast that’s good. I just hope it doesn’t all transfer as elective credit and then I’m screwed. I guess I can always petition if that ends up being the case. I’ve heard that sometimes it does actually work

Urgent! Does the University require I submit a College Report and Mid-Term report prior to receiving my decision?? What about the Secondary school final report? Are these all required by Feb 1? Where do i mail them?

Has anybody else heard back yet?

@msu2020 nope! If you look on the common app and click on the my colleges tab and click on University of Michigan, at the bottom it says, “Attention Transfer Applicants: The Secondary School Final report and Mid-term report are not required.” Also, if you look click on this link and follow these guidelines, I think you should be fine. https://admissions.umich.edu/apply/transfer-students/requirements-deadlines-0 I never sent in the College Report and I spoke to an admissions counselor recently regarding my app and they said that nothing was missing, so you’re good!

does anybody know if michigan has particular times/days of the week when they send out decisons? And for those of you who have already heard back, when did you find out?

@broche6 my transfer rejection last year came at 9am on a Wednesday

how long does it take to get your wolverine access information after you submit?

@msu2020 shouldn’t take too long. I’ve heard ten days max. The only thing you need from them is your UMID#. The account itself you can make now IIRC

How long usually until you hear back your decision? Also, how can i check to make sure they have received all of my materials?

@msu2020 once you get your wolverine access information it’ll say on there if they’ve received all your material. You can also call admission’s and ask but you won’t be able to do that until you get your UM ID number. Although once you get all your material in you then need to find out when your app is “marked complete” the only way to do that is to call admissions, you will not be able to find that out on wolverine access. “Marked complete” is different than having all your material in. It will usually take a little bit after all your material is in for them to mark you app complete. Once again the only way to find out is to call admissions and ask specifically if your app is “marked complete”

It matters whether you app is marked complete because they will only start to review your app once that happens. They say you will hear back on your app about 4-6 weeks after your app is marked complete. They’re usually really good at getting decisions out in that time frame. The first time I applied when I wasn’t even close to being at junior standing I heard back very soon. The second time I applied It took me I’d say exactly 6 weeks. Maybe a little bit after.

Is anyone here applying to COE?

I’ve got all my material submitted and I saw on the common app that all my letters of recommendation were downloaded so now it’s just time to wait. Although I don’t know yet if my application has been marked complete. I’m hoping all my material was submitted early enough that they’ll mark it complete soon and I can hear back a little early.

@jmengineer Yeah. I’m applying for the Computer Science program at CoE.

Just submitted Comm. App. yesterday…Transcripts prob wont arrive for a week or so…Freshman applicant!

Please chance me? Also, how is everyone finding out about how many of their credits transfer over? Will I receive an email about my Wolverine access ID?

@kcsh1998 You can find out how many of your credits transfer by using the transfer guide on Michigan’s website. You should be able to find your current school and then it’ll show which courses have been evaluated for transfer credit. Yes you will get an email a couple days after submitting your common app saying they got your application and they’ll give you your UM ID

Did you apply to Michigan as a senior in high school? They really stress how much they prefer junior applicants but that really just means they’ll be mostly focusing on your high school stats in your decision. I personally know quite a few people who have been admitted as transfer before achieving junior standing. I’ve never seen a HS GPA in that format but it looks good to me. I’d say if you didn’t make it in it’s really because you don’t have enough credits in which case I’d totally recommend applying again when you have more credits.

Good luck!
