Congrats to the people who got accepted!! So uplifting to hear all the good news!
I’m just wondering what it looks like when your application gets marked complete? Does it just say that your application was complete? And when it does get marked complete, does that mark the beginning of the reviewing process?
@blackhawk86 I chatted with them online and this is what they said. They personally do not like to use the word ‘complete’ because the reviewers can always ask for more things. However, as long as you have all the required materials in, it is technically in the same context as complete. It won’t actually say it any where on Wolverine Access.
@blackhawk86 it won’t show anywhere on wolverine access if your application is marked complete. The only way to find that out is to call. As far as I know getting marked complete pretty much means that they looked through your app confirmed you had everything and checked is as complete and ready to review. This usually takes like a week or so after getting all your materials in.
@historyrepeat I chatted with them online about 2-3 weeks ago and asked them specifically if they could tell me when my app was marked complete, and all they told me was that as of 1/11/17, they had received everything that was required of me. Lol they received and downloaded my second (last) letter of recommendation just yesterday, but then again, that’s not a required document so they probably started reviewing my application before that I would assume or else I wouldn’t have heard back today like I did. If it helps, every REQUIRED document was submitted from me on 10/26/16 except for college transcripts because I had to wait for fall semester grades to be finalized of course, so those were the final things to be received.
Now, on wolverine access, it is showing the “View Decision” link with a “Congratulations you have been accepted etc”. Tbh, it might have been there all along but I may have missed it because it is a little easy to miss due to the fact that it kind of blends in. Can’t wait to get the physical letter in the mail!
Is anyone sending a mid-year report? Or do most people not do that? I’m wondering if it will help my chances if I do so, or if they will have already decided on my admissions decision by the time it would even get to them.
@schoolgirl if you applied for LSA, then their quick turnaround makes it almost impossible to. Even applying on the deadline (yesterday), if it took the full six weeks of their 4-6 week timeline, that would put you in mid March, right around the time a midterm report could evenbe filled out. Most schools that require one don’t release decisions until late April into May.
As far as CoE and others go, they don’t request it to my knowledge, but if you have one completed come March you could always offer it. I wouldn’t just randomly send it though.
@mjr2013 awesome, that helps a lot. I’m applying to LSA so I don’t think I’ll send it unless for some odd reason I still haven’t gotten an admissions response by March. Thank you!
If you have a guaranteed transfer option then (with the stats you mentioned above, you’re in). Have you submitted the notice that you would like to exercise the option? Once you do that they will convert your last year’s application to a Fall 2017 transfer admissions application.
@historyrepeat I had a 3.1 and 34 ACT in high school, and a 3.75 my first quarter of college at a top 60 university. I was given a guaranteed transfer option, similar to what was described by someone else above, when I was rejected last year.
I have been checking Wolverine Access pretty much hourly since Tuesday… I missed a call from UM’s generic outgoing number this afternoon while I was at work.
Contacted my admissions counselor and they said they knew nothing of it.
I got another call today, which I promptly answered.
Was my admissions counselor from last year (my original transfer rejection) congratulating me on my acceptance for the summer term to the University of Michigan.
I’m a bit in shock right now. Applying out of high school it was a pipe dream, I was laughed at for applying… Could soon become a reality.
@mjr2013 I’m in a somewhat similar boat as you. This is my third time applying from a community college. Except my high school grades were considerably worse than yours. I’m applying to the fall though, I thought about applying for the summer term but I was scared about costs because I wasn’t exactly sure how financial aid works in the summer term. I’m hoping I too will get to announce some positive news soon. Do you know when your app was marked complete by chance?
@historyrepeat On the school’s website, they suggested 55-60 credits as junior standing, but I’m sure two off won’t be a big deal. I’m a bit worried about credit number too, I think I may be at 55 transferrable after this semester, but I will be receiving my Associates of Science degree at the end of this semester, and so do you think that if I have my degree indicating that I am junior standing, the number of credits transferred will matter as much?
