@blackhawk86 There was no change in my D app. even after all materials were in. She contacted the counselor to make sure that all materials were in.
find out if your app is complete with a call.
Hi, how long does it take for UMich to respond with an admissions decision? I just applied on 2/1. Was it rolling admission?
Anyone want to chance me?
I’m applying as a junior transfer, have a 3.93 overall GPA and a 4.0 major GPA, a 1320/1600 SAT score, am exec VP of my school’s ASB, on the speech and debate team, in the honors program, presenting a project at an honors research symposium at Stanford, Phi Theta Kappa, volunteer to teach refugees and immigrant teenagers English, worked 30 hours per week on average, created a financial program that my school adopted and established, created a council of migrant workers at an internship at a non-profit law firm, interned the city manager, was a part of the mayor’s scholarship program, was in IB and AVID in high school, developed a prosthesis for amputees to play the violin in elementary school, and got to help develop a bionic hand (not the technical stuff. I was basically a guinea pig). I have other college activities too. I think those are just the big things. I also have a pretty cool story and specific reason for applying to UMich that I wrote about in my essays.
Thanks!
EDIT: I’m also at a CC
Crazy part is you don’t even have to call. You can just use the chat feature on their website(plus theirs almost no wait time as opposed to call)
@lexluther96 your chances look great in my opinion. I believe that they do have rolling decisions. They received everything required of me as of 1/11/17 and I received my acceptance by email on 2/1, so yeah I would say rolling for sure. Good luck!
Greetings fellow prospective transfer students,
I woke up yesterday morning to discover that I had been accepted to the College of LSA! I’ve been at Oakland Community College for the past 3 years now, slowly building up the necessary standing that had been lacking all throughout high school. I applied Monday, January 9th with all materials submitted and received my UM ID that Friday, January 13th.
What I’m wondering now is if I am required to send in the grades that I receive at the end of this semester to U of M? Will I have to resend my transcript at the end of the semester? Perhaps one of you will be able to answer my question…
Thanks
Also, will I be sent a full transfer credit evaluation at some point? Or do I have to actively seek that out? I will be entering with 74 credits, though I believe 4-8 of which may not transfer.
@cassidylynnn Wow, that was SO fast. I hope they’re quick like that with me. Have you received any other admissions decisions? I’m applying to a few Ivy League schools too, are you? Cool, thanks!!
Congrats!
Also, for anyone out there, on my application status page, there’s a column for “Academic Tests” listing tests I’ve sent in (ACT, AP scores), with the date I took them on. They don’t say “received” or “not received,” just the testing date. What does this mean? Do they have to be marked “received”? Should I only worry about what’s in the “Other Required Application Materials” section?
@lexluther96 I haven’t received any other admissions decisions yet. The other three schools I applied to are UCLA, USC (southern cal) and Stanford!
@blackhawk86 if it lists the test date that you took it that means they’ve received it.
@ben23c congrats!
@historyrepeat Thanks!!
Hello all – I checked my application, and it says that my major is “undeclared” even though on the Common App I wrote about my major and made sure to select it in the “academic interests” section… will this put me at a disadvantage if I appear to be “undecided?” Or will the essays hold more weight, since I went into great detail about my plans?
@historyrepeat 40 CH’s is considered junior standing, so you’re good there.
@424hara they all say that. I believe you meet with an advisor after acceptance to get a plan and it would change then. What matters is the school itself, i.e. LSA, CoE, Kinesiology, etc.
My parents received my welcome packet today! Apparently there’s a paper in there that talks about how it is impacted for my major (Econ), and that it may be difficult for me to declare that as my major when I register or something along those lines… I don’t know exactly what it says because I live at school, which is 2 hours away from my permanent residence, so my mom just gave me a synopsis of what it said. Anyways, is that true? Does anyone here know anybody that has transferred to Michigan and ran into this similar problem of getting their first choice major? I thought that we were admitted to that major when we listed it on the common app.
@cassidylynnn I’ve never heard of anyone not being able to get their first choice major (unless it was in a program that you need to apply for) but I’m pretty sure someone told me that you’re not “accepted” into a major when you transfer. As far as I know they don’t really consider your preferred major when they’re reviewing your application. Which is also why everybody’s major says “undeclared” on wolverine access.
@historyrepeat Okay that’s good to know. Econ is in LSA, so I think I am fine then. She probably just read it wrong; phew.
Hello everyone! I’m super late but I’m so anxious and was wondering if anyone wanted to give me some feedback.
Applying to LSA to major in Environment
I’m an African-American female
Attending a decent university IN-STATE
Will have 55 credits by the end of this semester. 52 should be transferable.
College gpa: 3.4 its low I know
In honors college at my university
2 great rec letters from my professors(one from an alumni)
30 ACT
High school gpa: 3.6 at a highly ranked public school
Member of environmental club at university and have some volunteer hours served
Consistenly had a steady job since I was 16
Lastly, I’m a great writer and my essays were very strong. A lot of time, revising, and good feedback went into them.
I applied on the 2/1. I’m nervous because my gpa is not the best I got deferred and then denied when I applied as a freshman and I’m just hoping I have a better shot.
Honest feedback welcome! When should I expect my decision?
@treehugger19 the only thing that I see could be really limiting your chances is your college GPA. No matter how many great things you may be doing extra-curriculars wise, U-M puts the utmost value on GPA. Keep your head up because you honestly don’t know what could happen!
@treehugger19 I’d have to agree with what @schoolgirl98 said above. Your college GPA is what Michigan weighs the most when reviewing an application but depending on what school you go to and what classes you took your GPA may be more explainable. Especially if your schedule consisted of lots of high level classes. Also if your GPA was negatively affected by something else going on in your life at the time. No reason to get bent out of shape worrying about it though I’d say just wait and be on the look out for your decision. I’ve seen crazier things happen.
