University of Michigan Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

@GoBlue2233 It is probably based on when materials were marked as complete. There was actually someone on this thread that got rejected a few days back. So, I assume it’s simply based on completion of materials. You should get your decision from now until sometime in mid-April, I believe. I’m also nervously waiting for my decision!

@goblue1405 @FiveODeuce I remember there was a pretty popular “rumor” on A2C’s subreddit that they release big waves on Friday. I’m not sure if they release anything on Saturday/Sunday. I also heard that Wolverine Access updates at Midnight every day. Take whatever I said with a grain of salt, as this is based on word of mouth, lol.

Does anyone know long it takes UMich to send out financial aid award letter after being admitted. And are they generous with OSS kids.

Denied from LSA :frowning:

Did anyone else have a rejection letter that specifically mentioned their lack of transferable credits? I would have had 59 completed credits–4.0GPA–at the time of starting in the fall of 2019. Thanks!

Sorry to hear that. You’ll get better offer!

Btw, did they send you email, or you checked your portal?

@azac123 Sorry to hear that. You’ll get better offer!

@kedeng Email.

@zwetsch They specifically mentioned my lack of transferable credits too

@azac123 @zwetsch I’m sorry to hear about your decisions. Do you guys have a rough estimate as to how many of your credits would’ve transferred over? Also, did you guys get any intermediate email regarding your mid-term grades before your decision arrived?

@NBAEXPERT I talked with an admission counselor this morning about midterm grades. They said though not required, we can submit our midterm grades by email.

Unfortunately, I was unaware that only 25 credits of my 59 were transferable to UM and apparently you need to have a minimum of 30 transferable credits for sophomore standing and a minimum of 55 for junior standing. Bummer!

@zwetsch how did you derive that number?

I don’t know if the inadequate credit is just one of their excuses. I know a person who had only 17 credits transferrable last semester (with 10 credits transferable in progress) without any AP/IB also got accepted. I think they will also consider essay, activity, and other stuff as important too. Now I’m just hoping my decision will also come soon too.

to LSA you don’t need 30 credits to transfer in but for engineering you need certain prereqs, etc.

@kedeng They specifically asked me to send in my mid-term grades - which I did. They processed everything a week back (called admissions office and they said my application was completed on Feb 12). Also, there is a website Michigan provides where you can check transfer equivalencies.

Has anyone who has been accepted gotten access to their housing application?

@anniepa I did

@EthanAz1 If you don’t mind sharing, about how long after you submitted your deposit did you receive it?

@anniepa like 5 weeks. now that its april, though, it probably won’t take too long for other people.

hey! i got denied to lsa in january and in my email they said:

“Because you do not have enough transferable credits to be at junior standing, we also considered your academic record from high school, including your GPA and your standardized test scores.

The quality of academic work you demonstrated last semester was impressive, and it was noted in the evaluation of your application.

If your interest in attending the University of Michigan continues, you should continue to build upon the strong academic performance you have shown and update your application for consideration for the next available term. Please request this update in writing prior to the deadline of your desired new term of entry.”

so i changed my application to winter 2020 (ill have 57 credits prior to fall 2019 and my current gpa is 3.4). i got accepted to michigan state university and i was wondering if its easier to transfer from msu to umich? like should i go to msu in the fall and then transfer to umich?
