University of Michigan Regular Decision Class of 2022

@billcsho: Thanks for the info.

@borisdarice Make it $60k+ as you need R&B too. One should actually check out the NPC before applying.

I haven’t got an email about the wolverine portal yet. Should I be worried?

@WashUH0peful No. It takes about a week to get the email. That’s what it was like for me and a friend.

@WashUH0peful It would take a few days to over a week depending on when you submitted the application and when they downloaded it for CA. As they were busy in updating the portal last week, it may get delayed.

Hello I studied in an Indian curriculum school and my grades are pretty good if not the best, grade 9 -9.8/10 CGPA, grade 10 - 10/10 CGPA and grade 11- 89.9 % (its freaking tough) and grade 12 predicted score given by school - 96.4%(IDK how). SAT 1440 750-M, 690-R; and ACT -32 with a superscore of 33(if it helps) Toefl -110. I have had around 350 hours of volunteer service and I guess my essay is alright, not the best but pretty good. I have done 1 internship in Robotics and CS(my intended major so I hope it helps) and a summer Program at Boston in Robotics and involved in a lot of cricket and basketball 9 through 12. Also I have Subject tests : 800 on math 2, Chem and Phy.

I live in Bahrain so sports opportunities are minute, although I was in the reserves team for Bahrain National cricket team and went to Malaysia for the ACC U-16 cricket cup and also inter-school cricket events and am active in basketball in my school although we have no proper tournaments or organization.

I wish to pursue Robotics and have made that clear in my essay and tried to show my love for it and why I am interested in it. I have strong Recs and I love going to MUNs, I have been to 13 MUNs including one inside UNHQ in New York where I won a verbal mention and have won over 5 wards. My activity essay is based on MUN conferences. I dont really aim for Scholarship, tution should be fine.

I took the ACER examination for Science and Maths(not soooo prestigious) and got 100 percentile internationally and high distinction in maths. I also was a part of a cricket tour to India under CFI( cricket federation of India).

I am part of a global community at Young Scientist’s Journal (www.ysjounal.com) and am an editor and have edited over 15 articles based on Science. I am also part of a community called Young Coders who are working on making a website.

I wish to major in CE or CS and am an international student, what are my chances?

@borisdarice - Jan 8 to Feb 2, that is a very quick turnaround on UMich’s part.So there is a chance applications submitted by 2/1 can hear back by 3/1?

@billcsho What is the sequence of events for accepted RD applicants? #1. Acceptance by portal, followed by #2. Merit scholarships, if any, and finally #3. Financial aid if applicable?

@wings17 RD submitted near deadline would be likely released during the second peak which us around early to mid March.
The merit notice may come before or after FA package if you are going to get any. For EA admitted, the merit notice usually come earlier than FA but not necessarily the case. As priority for merit is given to EA, don’t expect any merit for RD soon, if at all.

@billcsho Does submitting the app on 1/18 but test scores later (like received around the time of the deadline) mean the app would be part of the first or second peaks?

@frazzledazzle Application would not be reviewed before it is complete. Unless you have already submitted earlier score, they would have to wait till your score report came in.

@billcsho I checked my portal today and my ACT score is in. As per the norm of the College Board, my SAT still isn’t in. My ACT is higher so I’m okay with them reviewing my application now, which is what I think they’ll be doing. I emailed my regional AO and I think he said what you said, as well as wondering if both were with writing (they are).
Thank you! With it (hopefully) being reviewed now I hope I find out at the end of the month!

Got portal notification today but not much as far as submissions (recommendations, school report, ACT) in it. Is there an update lag on their part?

@billcsho Everything’s marked as received now so I think they’ll start reviewing my application soon. You know a lot about this stuff, how much does it usually take to review one’s application and notify them? If you’d like to know my stats (if that’d give you a better time estimate) I’ll give them to you.

@waiting2022 I think it takes a bit. Imo it makes sense since they receive a lot of applications each year.

@frazzledazzle There is no fixed time between reviewing and final notice. It really depends on how strong is your application. There are students applied EA, got deferred, and finally got accepted in April. If you are a good candidate and they want to offer admission immediately, it will still take a few weeks to turn around.

@billcsho I think I’m a good applicant but not insanely strong (1380 SAT, 31 ACT, 3.25 UW 3.75 W, great ECs and essays). I think it’ll be a while then. I was just hoping on an estimate since, for the few people who have gotten in so far, it took a month, but then again they were probably very strong applicants.

OOS and below 60k income and average stats. I definitely need some luck

All of luck

So, I found this article stating that UMich is need blind. However, is it just need blind for instate or out of state as well ?

Around what time does Michigan LSA typically notify RD applicants? Does anybody know when decisions came out last year?
