OOS and I go to a really unknown and small college in IL

hey, for those who have been accepted…does it show up on your w.a. or did you just get an email?

Through Wolverine Access if you were accepted,
Through Email if you were rejected.

Actually, when I was accepted they sent me an email congratulating me, an email with transfer equivalencies, and Wolverine Access. All in one day.

Congrats JGrden! so happy to hear at least some people are getting in!

What were your Stats and when’d you apply???

brigandino I applied on 1/10 to Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering.

This is my first year in college, in MSU engineering.

My first semester GPA was a 3.6 and this semester is looking even better. I will have taken 30 credits by the end of the year, but I am already a considered a sophomore here now because of AP credits. I need to go to U of M for that major, so the pressure is on…

I was wait listed last year for engineering
High School GPA : 3.5/4.33 with 6 APs
ECs: A lot, 2 varsity sports, officer in NHS, and 3 more clubs.
ACT: 29 composite, 34 Math

Good luck to everyone, anyone applying to engineering tell us!!!

Gah this rolling admissions is really frustrating. I’ve been checking wolverine access/my email every 30 minutes. It seems so random. Some people got decisions after a week, I applied almost a month ago still nothing. grrr

NYUtransfer1314 – do you have a blackberry or smartphone that sends email to you? Dont stay on wolverine access all day because it’ll just drive you crazy with anticipation, find something to fill your time and when theyre ready to tell you you’ll know! :)

I applied for summer term. Anyone know if this will help my chances?

@Dustins
Yeah, I definitely think so.
A classmate of mine who had terrible grades who just applied t Umich for the heck of it, got accepted for the summer term. I presume it was because of almost no competition but I’m not 100% on this. This was from high school however, so It might not apply to you if your transfering.

Did anyone apply to transfer for summer term and if so what were your stats and did you get in?

Lol they will not accept you for the summer term if you give them any indication that you want to graduate from there, even to take classes as a guest student. They told me they see it as a way of “backdooring” my way into the school and rejected me flat out. That’s a load of crap haha I just wanted to take a few summer classes there. Ridiculous. This is a good thread though. I am awaiting my decision- applied to CoE on Jan 15th or so. This is so frustrating I feel like it’s Deja vu of applying as a senior.

Man, this is not good, I’m starting to feel like I got a lot of competition here and I’m starting to get a little nervous. And the post about UM giving you a hard time proving you’re in state is so true. I’ve already had to fill out this freaking form proving that I’m in state because I’m attending college at the University of Pittsburgh. I mean both my parents live in Ann Arbor, I’ve been living there since '96, I graduated from high school there, I’m 100% financially dependent on my parents, I have a Michigan drivers license and I live in a dormitory. How much clearer could it be that I’m a Michigan resident?

I was waitlisted last year but couldn’t get in off it because I didn’t turn in my midyear grades.
College GPA: 3.6
High School GPA: 3.6
ACT: 32 (7 APs)
EC: 3 clubs at Pitt

And I’m going to turn in my midterm grades from Pitt which will be like 3.8 or 3.9 right now and get a teacher rec from my Seminar in Comp (English) professor. Hopefully that’s enough to convince UM that I’ve improved enough since high school to get in. I’m really looking forward to returning to Ann Arbor and not having to live most of the year in Pittsburgh. I can’t stand the hills and mountains.

If this is true then why would they allow people to apply for that term?

I havent had any problems with residency things yet but thats probably because I was born in MI, lived here my whole life, and have never attended school outside the state. I’m having problems with processing of my materials though, its taking them forever to register my college transcript and have it show up online

As far as the Residency issue goes, it seems like whether or not you life in Michigan is not a determiner for whether they will qualify you as out of state. I was born at the University of Michigan Hospital, have lived in Michigan my whole life, and am the daughter of two University of Michigan professors - and they STILL told me I was out of state. Plus, this is my third time applying to U of M, and both previous times I had been In-State with absolutely no problems.
I called the Office of Undergrad Admissions and explained my situation to them - they referred me to the Residency Office, where they looked over my file and told me they couldn’t see anything that would indicate out of state residency, so they took down my phone number and told me they’d have someone examine everything carefully. A few days later, I got a call saying they’d fixed it and re-determined my residency as In-State, while offering no explanation for the mistaken out of state residency assignment. A friend of mine said that her brother, who is applying as a freshman and has lived in Michigan his whole life, was also determined as out of state.

All of this leads me to believe that really, it’s nothing personal - it’s probably just yet another snafu with the new Common App and all the problems they’ve been having with filing. It really sounds like they’re having trouble keeping organized, which would also explain why some people are getting rejections/admissions so soon after they apply, and some people have waited a month or more (like me) with no word whatsoever.

Anyway, I know this is long, but I just wanted to be thorough. If you are in state and are determined out of state, CALL UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS! They’ll sort you out. There’s a chance that you really ARE out of state, according to their residency policies, but they will be able to confirm if for you if you are or fix it for you if you aren’t!

Best of luck to everyone!

I got in!!! Just got my decision yesterday (via e-mail) and applied on 1/21. I applied to the College of Literature, Science, and Arts. Cannot believe it!

Congratulations ccmmff1! That’s totally awesome! Would you mind posting your stats? I would just like to see who they’re admitting. I can’t wait until the day I get to say “I got in” but that will have to wait. Thanks a bunch and again congratulations!

Congrats!!
I just don’t understand how a lot of the people that apply later get their decisions sooner?

applied February 1. got my acceptance on wolverine access today!
