Bernie: I transfered from a two year CC in Michigan. Good Luck!

what school did you apply to and what were your gpas, sats, etc.

Iloveumich posted his/her stats earlier on in the thread.

thanks. i’ll look for them.

Got rejected from LS&A just a few minutes ago. =/

College GPA: 3.795

No clue on the essays, I was the only one to ever see them

I was accepted at U of M Dearborn, so I think I’ll go there and reapply for junior year.

tmad: If you were applying for sophmore status, that is probably the reason you were rejected. Apply next year for junior status and, with those stats but more college credits earned, you should get it.

Accepted 3/17

College GPA: 3.86
College: Eastern Michigan University, 4 year university in Ypsilanti, MI
Credits earned: 41 so far, with 56 by the end of this semester
College ECs: Volunteer Docent at UMich Archaeology Museum; cello lessons; tutoring in Latin/Greek
Essays: Well-written and above all, persuasive - LET ME IN!

Possible Hook: Applied three times; parents teach at UMich; stepfather is UMich alum

HS GPA: 3.4
ACT: 28

I applied straight out of high school and got waitlisted, for Winter 2011 term and got rejected, and then FINALLY got accepted today for Fall 2011 LS & A. I’m still kind of shocked that I was accepted, but I have worked really hard these past two years and I think I’ve earned it. Third time’s a charm!

Is there any out-of-state applicant who got decisions?

Sounds like there are no spaces left

i am an international student and no decision yet.

my intended major is industrial and operations engineering.
college gpa: 3.28
52 credits

i see that most people apply for business adm, economics or that kind of stuff. so what do you think about my chances? has anyone applied for engineering?

The counselor told me that my application has not been reviewed yet and thet I would get decisions in mid -April.

Does that indicate I am not competitive? and I am going to receive a rejection letter?

for the people who got accepted…did you apply for financial aid?

Just got rejected again, stats:

School: LSA
State: CA
HS GPA: 3.7
SAT: 2180
ECs: two leadership positions, volunteering, piano, couple other clubs

I was pretty confident about getting in, but I guess it really is harder to transfer after only one year =

Rejected from LSA

College GPA: 3.9

Credits:17,16 pending
College: Michigan State
Major Physics
EC: Research Job in Linguistics,Internships abroad

HS GPA: 3.6

URM: Latino
applied: Jan 17

I honestly don’t understand what it takes…

As someone who has applied to the University three times and was just admitted last week after my third application, I will say that the key to transferring is NUMBER OF CREDITS! Having one semester under your belt, as most do for a sophomore transfer, really does not seem to be what UMich is looking for. You really need to be in your second semester of your sophomore year before you can reasonably expect to transfer. UMich specifically states that they give preference to junior year transfers, so applying halfway through your freshman year of college does not give the admissions board enough grades or credits to go on.

I applied for Winter 2011 transfer with 24 credits/41 pending and got rejected, even with a 3.85 GPA; but when I reapplied this January for Fall 2011 transfer with 41 credits/56 pending, I was accepted. You don’t have to have impeccable stats to get in as a transfer; you just need as many credits as you can stack up.

It’s hard, but my advice as both a rejected transfer and an admitted transfer is to be strong, suck it up, and wait it out - you can do it!. UMich rarely takes sophomore transfers, so it is in your best interests to simply wait until you are applicable for junior transfer.

That was pretty long-winded, but in essence: what it takes is credits/junior standing.

Good luck everyone!

accepted today to LSA as a biology major

-57 credits from a community college in michigan
- college gpa: 3.59
