Alright, so these are my stats in high school:
GPA: 3.9
ACT:26 (This is the set back)
Alot of extra curriculars like varsity football, senior board, etc.

Now I go to the University of Michigan- Dearborn as a freshman and I am applying for 2010 Fall as a transfer student to the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor.

What GPA do I need to get to guarantee myself in Ann Arbor. I know a 4.0 will get me there but what is my minimum?

And other than GPA what do I need to do to improve my chances of getting in?

I am currently in research and tutoring.

It depends on the school or college you want. You cannot guarantee transfer, but 3.6+ is going to give you your best shot for LSA. COE is more competitive, I don’t know much about the other schools. I got into LSA with a 3.5 but I don’t think I was a safe bet at all. It is to your advantage that you are coming from another UM campus. Write good essays and take advantage of what dearborn has to offer while you’re there, they’ll want to see that you’ll take advantage of ann arbor when you get here. Good luck!

I’m at the University of Michigan-Dearborn as well, trying to make the same move and I also have a high GPA, varsity football and a 26 on my ACT (which F’d me too) and still got denied from Ann Arbor. I’ve been asking around and I’ve heard a 3.6 will get you in, granted you were originally differed while applying to the Fall '09 at Ann Arbor. Also, it is good to show you’ve held a job throughout your first semester at Dearborn. Anyway, I’ve got finals to study for (I don’t know why we’re still in school). Good luck and I hope to see you in Ann Arbor next year!
