I hope Michigan agrees that tomorrow is the end of June and that they finally get back to those on the wait list as they have stated.
I’m assuming that we’ll all be rejected tomorrow? They wouldn’t accept people on the very last day of June, would they?
The way to deal with waitlist is to assume rejection while the lucky one would be surprised. Never put hope on it.
Maya that would be consistent with what they have been trying to do for years and years as they have often said they were either over enrolled or maximized. I would have been hugely surprised if they made “heavy” use of a waitlist.
@momofthreeboys. That makes sense but why do you think they announced at last years NACAC conference that they intended " to make heavy use of the wait list" ??
If they said that I find it an odd comment given the history. But perhaps going from none or a handful of waitlist offers to a couple dozen or more is “heavy” to the current admissions officers.
Ideally, they don’t need to admit waitlist and just get the target enrollment. Leaving some room for waitlist is their strategy to avoid over-enrollment again. But they have no control on the yield rate particularly with a significant portion of OOS students.
hope you don’t mind me butting in. I’ve been watching this thread all along. I’m not waiting, but I’m cheering when one of you gets in!
I think they may dip into the WL periodically over summer. It depends on how many deposited kids cancel when they get off another WL. So it is more about how long other schools go to their WL? At some point they will stop and close the class. But I don’t see any reason to do that until Aug 1.
They may send out rejections this week and keep a few diehards on a shortlist until then? That would be my guess.
Good luck!!
Is anyone else’s view decision link gone on the portal? Looks like we’ll be finding out our fate soon.
@mjk545 Yup… hmm.
Yes. Pretty sure my 8 months of waiting will be a rejection.
It’s gone. Guess the email will follow.
Just got my rejection letter. It’s over
I got rejected
what did ur rejection letter say?
They actually offered me guaranteed transfer as a sophomore. If I accept this, do I have to attend or can I try to transfer to a different school after freshman year?
^same but is that to some people or to everyone?
I don’t think everyone got that. I doubt umich has that many freshmen transfer out. There’s like at least 1000 people on the waitlist.
Just received the email. No spot for this fall but DS was offered sophomore transfer option. Great news.
Wow I didn’t even bother to read the rest of my letter, I also got offered a sophomore level transfer.
I wonder what qualifies as “sophomore”? Because of my college credits I already have going in, I will technically be a sophomore level after only my first semester. The sooner the better…
