I got a GT offer as well. Was there anyone who didn’t?
just called them and they said is “this option is definitely not given to all the students”
There were people did not receive the offer. I just asked a friend and he was not given the offer, however I was.
I’m assuming it seems like there’s a lot because of this thread, but it’s probably just that the people still following up on this and the thread are of the more qualified type since they seem to care more. Just a theory, not sure.
I was also offered a guaranteed transfer. I was honestly expecting a flat out rejection so this was great news.
My S was rejected with no offer of GT. He had almost a perfect 4.0 unweighted in Jr and Sr year along with a 33 ACT. So sad, don’t know what else he could have done. Congrats to the rest of you and I’m glad they’re at least making some allowances. With a 97% retention rate, UM won’t have many sophomore spots so you did well to get one of them.
I wonder what their criteria for the guaranteed transfer was. Did everyone who was offered one send a letter of continued interest?
My DS did not send a letter of interest and I am actually surprised he got the GT without one.
Btw does anyone know how generous umich is with OOS transfer students? My family is pretty poor and my parents aren’t sure if they can afford it.
Judging by Michigan’s economy and past posts - I would say that UMich is more stingy than comparable privates in terms of giving aid.
I was rejected, but offered GT for sophomore year. I sent 2 letters of continued interest. I’m happy I got accepted for somethig because I was expecting just rejection.
@CollegeGoer789- thanks, hopefully they’ll be slightly more generous this year.
If you didn’t get in, move on. Go to another school and everything will be fine. UMich isn’t that special.
@adkdad -Maybe some people really like UMich because of a certain program or major they want to study. I don’t think it’s fair for you to just tell them to move on from what they really want. Didn’t people tell you to not give up and keep trying? There’s always transferring as a sophomore or junior. Sorry about the rant, but I applied to UMich EA and I really like the school and it’s a bit presumptuous and irritating for someone just to say move on.
Accepted at Midnight! In state, applied EA.
so technically whoever got GT its basically they got accepted but they didn’t get in this year because there were no spots right?
@niboss96 I suppose that’s a nice way to put it. I think it’s really just an easier way for them to replace the inevitable transfers leaving next year but I’m not complaining.
Albeit a bit delusional…Let’s face it, the GT for sophomore year is a rejection. Accept it and move on!
I tend to agree with Jameses… It’s a great option for some people and way better than a rejection. My friend is estatic and figures he will work and save while spending a year at OCC. He will then move in with me sophomore year. Why do you feel the need to be so negative? After being a vocal poster on this thread you have been silent on what the news for you was yesterday.
@96blue Yeah really… I was already planning to transfer as a sophomore so this just makes the process a whole lot easier for me. Why would I “move on” when I have this opportunity right in front of me? I’d already accepted that I wasn’t getting in this year so at least I have a solidified plan to work towards.
Congrats to everyone who got GT, and to people who didn’t don’t pity yourself or think any less of yourself
If you tell them that you accept the offer right now, is it binding? As in, you have to go?
