University of Michigan Waitlist Applicants 2022

@EthanAz1 was it an email or was it the portal? What major was it and what was their race if you don’t mind? I’m only asking that because I heard they try and fill in holes with their demographics with the waitlist.

I hope the best for you all! Dont be disappointed if you did not get into the school. you decide your own future! God bless you guys

Hopefully they start releasing decisions within the next couple days for COE in accordance with last year.

Hoping for the best

I got an email from Umich IT telling me to set up a uniqname and password as well as telling me “welcome to the Michigan community” however my portal hasn’t updated, any ideas?

Figured it out, it was from Dearborn but it didn’t specify which school it was from. To set up a uniqname for Umich, you need to pay your deposit and for Dearborn you set it up upon admission

Anyone get in off the waitlist? Seems like by this time last year a wave had already gone out

I emailed my regional counselor, who said that they will make decisions regarding to the waitlist by late May.

@FullOfSmiles I got the same email and am really confused, I never applied to Dearborn so why would they send that?

@bp295 when you apply for Umich, they automatically send your application to Dearborn as well

Stickied this thread as it is particularly pertinent for the next month or so.

Does anyone have any predictions for how many they will take off the list this year?

By this time last year they had released 2 waves. Not sure what it means that it appears they’ve not begun admitting (at least not anyone reporting reporting here)

I heard from my counselor that they are not going to take many off the waitlist

Yeah I know they had a lot of applicants this year so idk if they’ll be admitting off the waitlist that much

@gogreen7 Number of applicants shouldn’t effect anything. The waitlist admit is strictly a function of the yield rate. They offer admission to X number of candidates for Y slots. The delta between the number who accept and the number they want in the class is the number of waitlist candidates they’ll take. Of course the increased number of applications does indicate a higher interest in the school - so perhaps more of those offered admission will actually accept then in a prior year - but that would be really hard to predict

If more people apply, do colleges tend to increase the number of students in the class?

@gogreen7 I imagine that they have a max capacity (based on rooms and staff) - so I doubt they would increase the number “on the fly.” Of course they may increase future class size based on interest by increasing capacity.

Ok well that makes me feel a little more hopeful

at this point I have just given up
