I have talked to two separate admissions counselors on the phone about two separate problems-- last week a lady said that the issue with downloading common app’s had been resolved but when I talked to someone on Monday, I was told they still haven’t downloaded any applications. Weird right?
@HelloHihh yes!!! Have you done that yet? I gonna do it tomorrow and hope my registrar to send it as soon as possible. I am afraid that I will still miss the deadline. A good news is that umich seems to notice this dumb policy for common application, and their officers are working to clarify communications with them. Umich replied to me that"You situation has been noted and our processing team is working diligently to make sure you application is being downloaded".
@HelloHihh more ridiculously, umich seems not to know the this policy! It is so fxxxxx bad… That is why people like me who should have received our UM ID but not receive yet because our application is even not downloaded into their application this system, due to the “incomplete” status from common application.
@spencerrrrr I just sent my transcript to Common app office today. I really don’t understand why Commom App want our transcripts as well. I talked to their staff, and they told me they won’t process my application and give my application to U-M until they receive my official transcript, which sounds ridicuous to me. We are not applying to University of Common App…LOL
However, I think U-M could still download the application since one of U-M counselor told me that they have received my application.
No need to stress out, I think everything will work out as long as you send everything that they are asking for and you double check with admissions if they are receiving the material. We are already stressing out about getting accepted. I’m hoping everyone gets accepted.
I sent my transcripts to Common App and U-M because I was very confused on what to do. I applied to U-M when they were having problems retrieving data from the Common App (I did not know at the time). I called them to see if they received my transcripts and they told me that they only had my high school transcripts. After I found that out, I sent my transcripts directly to U-M (which they now have).
Yeah I was confused too. But I just sent it directly to UofM it just appears “Not Arrived” on common app and I emailed an advisor from UofM and they stated that they received it.
Yeah. At this point, I would simply send them to Common App for Transfer & U-M. Common App won’t process applications till transcripts are received but I don’t know if U-M will be seeing those transcripts from the Common App. You’ll pay a little bit of extra money but at least you know your transcripts are sent and delivered.
Me too, I mailed the transcript to the Common App (after contacting them about the issue). However, I am not worried because U-M told me that they had received my application, and my college transcripts (which I mailed to them directly). Right now, I now have access to Wolverine-Access and I can see my credentials, even if the Common App has not received my college transcript (I am only missing the “Other Required Application Materials”, whose section is empty but I guess is normal).
As a transfer student, the only material we need to submit is our transcripts. As long you sent that in, in conjunction with your application itself, your application should be complete.
Accepted today for LSA, Winter 2019. I’m so excited!
Congrats @State869. When did you apply ?
@State869 the lady told me on the phone they aren’t even going to read apps till after October 8th…
@stitch12345 In my original post, I stated that I applied last February, but was denied with a message saying that my grades were good, but they wanted to see another semester. Per their instructions, I updated the term of my application to winter 2019, and sent in my transcript for last semester. Maybe because they’ve already gone over the application, they just wanted to see the grades before making the decision? I was surprised to hear back so early as well. I updated the application term around the 1st of September.
@Futurewolverine3 Thank you! I originally applied to transfer for fall 2018, but was told to update the term of my application to winter 2019. I did that around the 1st of September.
How did you “update” your application? I applied as well and got the same message to re apply with more credits…
If you search “update application term umich” on google it’ll bring you to their custhelp page that says, “Transfers - Updating Term, School or College, Course, or Application Information.” If you scroll down to the bottom, they’ll explain in full how to do it. Basically, you go to the Ask-a-question tab on their website, and put “Transfer Update request” in the heading, and the rest of your details below.

@ChengyuC I did UROP with Umich over the summer through their community college fellowship program and admissions officers stressed to us that they aren’t too worried about extracurriculars or internships for transfers because they understand that college work is more time consuming than high school work and that many transfer students also have work/family responsibilities/etc. So no worries! You have strong grades and I’m sure they will notice that too.
