University of Oklahoma scholarship?

Anyone know how long it usually takes to get a scholarship offer from the University of Oklahoma? Received admission letter Jan. 10. Web site says they do not notify if you do not get a scholarship, and to contact them if you have not heard by May 1. That's not going to work; decision will be made by May 1!!! Scholarships at other schools must be accepted by May 1!!!

Being a legacy, NMSF, and 35 ACT, would expect SOME kind of scholarship, but for OOS would have to be the top scholarship to seriously consider OU.

Pretty sure OU has an automatic scholarship for National merit finalists that is their highest scholarship. It should detail it on their website.

From my experience, typically scholarship offers come in April. As long as you have all your paperwork in, all you can do now is wait.

Their NMF scholarship is orders of magnitude larger than any other listed. They do not mention NMSF. You might call or e-mail to ask them if they offer anything to NMSFs. If it turns out they do, be sure to post. Probably others would be interested to hear that, could add that to the National Merit Scholarship thread.

Have you seen this list of Honors Scholars Scholarships? I don’t know what the specific criteria are but with your son’s stats, I’m sure he qualifies.

[OU Honors College - Freshman Scholarships](http://www.ou.edu/honors/ouscholars/freshman-scholarships.html)

Student didnt’ make finalist…only NMSF. So UO doesn’t award NM scholarship.

Yes, Soonermom95, we are hoping for one of the OOS scholarships. Just don’t think we can count on it, and better move ahead with UTD.

fred…

You might want to contact OU and tell them about your situation. Tell them politely about the UTD offer and ask if it’s possible that your son will be given a merit award. Your concern that you don’t want to wait until May 1st to find out is certainly reasonable.

The NMF scholarship is the only one that is in the range of what you are looking for . The next largest, Regents, is less than one third as much. It is stated in a somewhat confusing way in the one link and also the extra cash amount for Regents is not explicit. This link is a restatement in an easier to understand form.

I agree the best idea is to call and talk to someone there.
