@ivyhopeful97, you shouldn’t have to wait too long! March 1st is when they hope to notify all students they select for awards. Thanks for your patience and best of luck!
@hailtopitt1787 how common is the MBA thing that I received
@ivyhopeful97, our freshman guarantee programs are quite competitive. Congrats on receiving it! I am not sure the exact percentage of business students who are offered, but I can ask my colleagues who work on that Committee when I am in the office on Monday, if you’d like.
If son received acceptance Jan 12 and scholarship info Jan 28, but no honors college invitation does that mean he will not be invited to Honors college? Would that have come with his acceptance?
@hailtopitt1787 if you could ask that percentage I would be extremely grateful!!
@ivyhopeful97, let me see what I can find out on Monday!
@hailtopitt1787 thank you!!!
@sapphire50, Typically, students are informed that they are honors college eligible in their acceptance letter. The good news is that you don’t have to be “invited” to participate in the Honors College, per se. There are several ways in: if you meet certain requirements as an incoming freshmen you are automatically eligible to participate, but students can also enter the UHC in their sophomore year if they maintain a certain GPA. Finally, students may also ask their academic advisors to give them the permissions to enroll in UHC classes. The site explains it in further detail: http://www.honorscollege.pitt.edu/course-eligibility
Thank you. We would like to learn more about it. His SAT is well above the requirement (750 math, 750 cr) but I think his class rank/gpa were perhaps just a bit outside the eligibility criteria.
@hailtopitt1787 I applied late November to the CBA and have not received a decision yet. I am an OOS applicant. Does this mean anything? Thank you for your help!
@sapphire50, Yes! If your son is interested, he should definitely talk to his academic advisor about it when he comes to register for classes.
@Flyers25, Why don’t you give our office a call and one of our processors can check on the status of your application for you: 412-624-7488. Best of luck!
@kasmith, As long as your app was in by the 15th, you shouldn’t be too late. Our Scholarship Committee is meeting weekly and making decisions. Students who are selected to receive a scholarship should hear by March 1 at the latest. Good luck!

I just realized I missed the deadline for housing! Does this mean that I don’t get guaranteed housing?!?
Nevermind. I contacted panther central and that deadline was for returning students.
@hailtopitt1787, Does Pitt offer scholarships to National Merit Finalists? University of Pittsburgh is listed on the National Merit Scholarship Corp’s list of College Sponsors of National Merit Scholarships, but I couldn’t find anything on the Pitt website. Thanks.
@putterer, our scholarship process is not linked to the National Merit program. We will take into account your achievements when reviewing applications for merit aid. However, we do award four $1,000 National Merit College Sponsored Scholarships. If you are curious about them, you can send me a DM for more info.
