Same here: daughter just received the panther pride award today: 7,500; I’m assuming that’s renewable, correct? With her FAFSA loans it brings the monies to 13,000 per year which would really help.
We are OOS. TIA!
I think the Panther Pride award is a need based grant based on FAFSA EFC. But not the same as the Pitt Success Pell Grant match program. For that the student would need to qualify for a Pell Grant.

I don’t think all OOS students qualify for Panther Pride award. So your FAFSA EFC would have to be sufficiently low to qualify. I don’t know what that number is.
So to clarify @hailtopitt1787 … for this summer there are no on campus PittStart sessions? It’s all online? If so, that is really really sad!
@carachel2 yes sadly the pittstart program has been discontinued!
I read about that online on Pitt website
The new student orientation will be online, with option to meet your advisor through video chat, on phone or you can go in person separately
The panther connect will be a two day visit, staying overnight in a dorm but no longer mandatory as an orientation
I’m disappointed too, I read about pittstart since it’s still on the website ahd it sounded awesome
I’m glad that students can still do a two day retreat, I think the more time spent at Pitt in advance of classes starting the better
@ziveli513 do you have a link? The only thing I can find online is an empty web page that says PittStart has been discontinued and they can access the online orientation starting in May.
@carachel2 I can’t find the info any more, since it seems in transition I guess it’s gone, I read it a week ago
If you google panther connect it takes you to Pitt website with just a brief description and as hailltopitt said that registration info and dates for the summer retreats are coming soon
This is a kind of random question but how do you know your mid year grades have been requested? I noticed my guidance counselor sent them in late January but I go to one of the largest high schools in the country and I think they might have just automatically sent them. I’m not sure if that’s actually possible to do though so perhaps they were requested and I didn’t know? I applied late December through the common app and I haven’t really heard much since. When I called to make sure everything was okay they said my application was recently completed mid to late February so I should be hearing soon. I’m so nervous and confused.
@melody23, if your application is showing as complete, I would think you are fine. My D’s high school also sends mid-year grades automatically. If you have any doubts, call Pitt Admissions.
Has anyone else applied early December regular admission and sent in mid year first week of February and still haven’t heard - no button change either
I believe @hailtopitt1787 said responses are coming 4-6 weeks from time of mid-term report. You can always call if you’re concerned.
Thanks - just nervous I think others have gotten decision or those buttons changing at least
@studentpa, the waiting is definitely tough for everyone. Hang in there! : )
Thanks
I just got my email with the video saying “Pitt Class of 2023” today and my acceptance. I called about a week ago and they had said wait 3-5 weeks for decisions so it might come out earlier than you expect.
And they wanted my mid-year grades too
Congrats! What were your stats if you don’t mind me asking?
Submitted mine 2/9… hope to hear soon.
Pretty average, 27 ACT, 3.45 UW GPA, Extensive list of EC’s and Work Experience
Hi - did you get the email in the evening ?
Honors- My daughter got into the Swanson School of Enginnering, good merit scholarship, 1570 SAT, 4.67GPA but didn’t get into the honors program. She was very upset as she was accepted to all of her other admitted schools (so far) honors programs (Rochester, Miami Univ Ohio, Syracuse, UConn, UMD, Northeastern). Anyone have any insight? Can students appeal?
